The Curriculum we follow
Birth to Three Matters Framework for 0 - 3 year olds
The purpose of this framework is to provide support, information, guidance & challenge for all those with responsibility for the care & education of babies & children from birth to three years. The framework:
Values & celebrates babies & children
Recognises their individuality, efforts & achievements
Recognises that all children have from birth a need to develop, learning through interaction with people & exploration of the world around them. For some children, this development may be at risk because of difficulties with communication & interaction, cognition & learning, behavioural, emotional & social development or sensory & physical development
Recognises the 'holistic' nature of development & learning
Acknowledges, values & supports the adults that work with babies & young children
Provides opportunities for reflection on practice
Informs & develops practice whilst acknowledging that working with babies & children is a complex, challenging & demanding task & that often there are no easy answers.
Foundation Stage Profile for 3 - 5 year olds
All settings and schools that receive grant funding for the education of children aged 3 to 5 are required to plan activities & experiences that help children make progress in their development & learning. Sadberge Pre-school fall into this category.
The philosophy underpinning the Foundation Stage curriculum is that learning should be carefully planned and structured, with an emphasis on activities that are fun, relevant and motivating for each individual child.
Practitioners delivering the Foundation Stage curriculum therefore support children’s learning through planned play and extending and developing children’s spontaneous play.
The Foundation Stage Curriculum is organised into the following six areas of learning:
Personal, social and emotional development
Communication, language and literacy
Mathematical development
The development of knowledge and understanding of the world
Physical development
Creative development
