Spring term 2008 (second half)

Feb 2008

AGM and it’s outcomes!!!

Please find attached minutes of our AGM from 11th Feb. Thank you again to the parents that were able to attend.

As you can see from the treasurer’s report, we are currently running at a loss of £323.72 from this time last year. This is despite the absolutely tremendous efforts our fundraisers have put in during that period. Without fundraising, Pre-school would struggle.

Just to put it into perspective, there was a total of £1,375.45 raised in 2007 from events such as the discos, raffles, commission from photographs, fancy dress week, teas and coffees at sports day, and the Toddle Waddle. With things such as the rise in minimum wage and increased rent for the Pre-school room, it is clear to see how important fundraising is to the Pre-school’s survival.

For this reason, we ask very kindly if you are able to help us reduce this loss, by contributing to consumables, such as snack items and toiletries. We know you bring in fruit, and we really appreciate that, as it is an important part of the healthy snack we provide.

However, a possibly more effective way of asking for help would be to provide a list of things that we need, and placing it on the wall in the Village hall foyer, and asking parents to donate an item to Pre-school. (and putting their name next to the item they feel they could provide so that not everyone ends up donating the same thing!) So please look out for a list in the foyer!! Thank you!!

All voluntary contributions are much appreciated, however small, as they all help towards keeping the Pre-school running, and assist us in giving your children the absolute best care and education we can.

Last, but not least, Julia has given us notice that she wishes to leave her position of treasurer. Anyone interested in the role, please ask, as we will need one!!!! Julia is willing to step down from the role as soon as someone else wants to step in!!

New snack time routine

We are trialling a new snack time routine. It will be an ongoing snack that will begin shortly after register, and each child will get the chance to come and have their snack whenever they want throughout the session, and then return to whatever they were doing beforehand.

We’re hoping that it will promote independence, and will give the children more ‘play/activity’ time.

All children will still have a snack. If they decide not approach the snack table themselves, we will encourage them to do so, and make sure they have some snack/refreshment over the course of the session.

Topic

Our topic this half term is Spring and baby animals. Please check the notice board for updates on what we are doing each week. Our first week is sheep and lambs.

Thank you
