Welcome to St Andrew's Church

St Andrew’s church is in the centre of Sadberge village, which can be found off the A66 between Darlington and Stockton-on-Tees, in County Durham. As a village church, our aim, above all, is to be open to all the community. Our services are therefore classically Anglican in style, and seek to meet the needs of all who wish to come. Being set on a castle hill, there is, unfortunately, a steep bank to climb. However, once in the church, most areas are accessible, including the chancel, which has ramped access. A loop system has recently been installed to help the hard of hearing.
Most Sundays at 10.00am there is a Holy Communion sung to either the Addington or Rutter settings. For a small village, we are fortunate that we have both an organist and a twelve voice SATB choir.
We have coffee after all our morning services and are always delighted to welcome visitors!

Community Activities

Members of the congregation are involved in community activities through the Village Hall Association, the Old Age Pensioners’ Association, and as governors of the school. Our monthly Newsletter Roundabout is delivered free to every home in the village. It contains village as well as church news and the costs are covered by a variety of generous local sponsors.
On May 7th, 2000 we held our Millennium Songs of Praise. After the service, a Millennium yew tree was planted in the churchyard and we assembled for a commemorative photograph. Following this, Beatrice Cuthbertson, a former Mayor of Darlington and a member of the congregation, unveiled her commemorative Mayoral medallions, which she has donated to the Church so that they can be safeguarded for posterity.
Baptisms, weddings and funerals by arrangement.
