(an old print - it's not really so remote-looking!)
Saint Cuthbert's Church, its Hall and the nearby Vicarage are located on Church Bank, Shotley Bridge. Though the church is in a major centre of population (north Consett), it's on a quiet, almost rural road. The churchyard is deliberately maintained for nature conservation with well-tended borders round the church. From a seat in the churchyard, the visitor can look over the church field and across the Derwent Valley into Northumberland.
Church Bank is a steep hill, and if you approach it from below you have to come on foot (No Entry to traffic from the centre of the village). By car approach from Benfieldside Road (signed to Benfieldside from Blackhill and from Snows Green Road). "Church Bank leading to Saint Cuthbert's Church" is clearly marked from Benfieldside Road.
There's both on-street and limited off-road parking.
