Our new Deacon
 | Ian Waugh was ordained Deacon by the Bishop of Durham on Sunday 30th June - in Durham Cathedral.
Here he's pictured (left) with the Vicar after a service of welcome at St. Cuthbert's that same evening. The Eucharist also marked the 20th anniversary of the Ordination of the Vicar to the Priesthood (27th June 1982), and was followed by a party for both clergy in the Hall.

Admissions to Holy Communion
 | St. Cuthbert's welcomed five children to the Sacrament of Holy Communion on Sunday 7th July 2002. These were the first children to be admitted to Communion under new regulations from the Bishop of Durham - on the basis of their Baptism without prior Confirmation.
Preparation involved a six-week course with lots of fun.
From left to right the children are Rowan Jackson, John Short, Jane Ruxton and Samantha Barnes. Stephen O'Malley managed to escape being photographed.
With the children, David Miller (top right) was also admitted to Holy Communion - he has completed preparation for Confirmation, and we're just waiting for a confirmation service at the right place and the right time.
