The Vicar
 | The Revd. Martin Jackson
Born in Hartlepool, Martin Jackson was educated in local schools before taking degrees in History at Cambridge University and Theology at Durham University. He trained for ordination at Cranmer Hall, part of St. John's College, Durham. He has worked with the Church in Jerusalem and, since ordination in 1981, in four parishes of the diocese of Durham.
He came to his present appointment at St. Cuthbert's in 1994. During this time he has completed the Durham University M.A. in Theological Research gaining a Distinction, and writing a final dissertation examining insights into prayer from the poetry of R.S.Thomas. Subsequent extra-parochial work has entailed participation in the North East Pastoral Theology Course and "Common Purpose".
From January 2000 until September 2006 he served also as Area Dean of Lanchester, an area covering most of the local authority district of Derwentside, County Durham. After taking sabbatical leave for the rest of the year, he returned to work in the parish. In 2007 he completed an extended course in "Training for Spiritual Direction."

Our Readers - Rosie
 | Rosie Junemann was licensed as Reader by the Bishop of Jarrow in Durham Cathedral on 13th September 2003. A Reader has a distinctive role as a lay person licensed by the Bishop to preach, teach, lead worship and exercise a role in pastoral care within a parish or wider area.
Rosie continues in her main employment at Lanchester Endowed Parochial School but gives freely of her available time for work as a member of our team. Rosie has particular responsibility as convenor of our worship development group - and works across the diocese in the Parish Review process with our Diocesan Stewardship Adviser.

and...
 | Paul Heatherington is our other Reader, licensed by the Bishop of Jarrow in Durham Cathedral on 18th September 2004.
Paul began training alongside Rosie, continued in Southwell Diocese while working in Nottingham, and has now completed his training back in Durham to join us once more at St. Cuthbert's.
Paul continues to work as a solicitor, and has recently completed an MA in Theology and Ministry offered through the University of Durham. He was in good company at his graduation in January 2008.
