Celebration of Marriage
 | St. Cuthbert's held a special service and gathering in June 2001 to celebrate the place of marriage. Many couples married in the church returned, others came simply to give thanks for what they had found in their own married lives. And with them came families, friends, photo albums, videos and many memories....

Part of the Family
Jean & Denis Burt - long-standing members of St. Cuthbert's - were married in the neighbouring parish of St.Aidan's during the Second World War. With only the shortest period of army leave in which to prepare they reminded us of the contrast with today's often-exhaustive planning.
Not Far Behind!
Derek & Edna Hume recently celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary. As we remembered the vows of marriage, Derek made his escape from the choir for a rare opportunity to sit next to Edna in the congregation. |
Not a Proposal
 | Rowan and Katie take refuge in the pulpit. Rowan admits to having been the "groom" when his Primary School visited the church to learn about marriage - sadly his "bride" is now nowhere to be seen.
Licensed to....
 | Carol & Willie O'Malley had to go to some trouble to circumvent residence requirements in order to marry in St. Cuthbert's after a spell in Jersey. They brought along their Archbishop's licence (paper lollipop attached) to prove it was all legal.
Weddings lead to families...
 | Sonia and Peter Thompson head up the team of tower bell-ringers who provide their services for so many wddings. We managed to keep them out of the tower for their own wedding.
Elizabeth, their daughter, is a lively member of our Sunday School.

Crumbs....
But not at this point.
No wedding is complete without the cake. Having produced one for the last of her four children to eat at his wedding the week before, Sammie Hewlett went on to make and ice this one for us.
Comparisons
 | A long line of wedding albums was keenly examined by participants in the celebration - elsewhere, marriage videos played on in a multi-media reception after the service.
Not in our day?
 | Liz and Lew Parker discover it's possible to have colour photo albums now.
That's not our entry!
 | Jim Hollingsworth can't decipher any of the signatures in the wedding register. Marjorie keeps a cooler head.
How many more?
 | Ian & Lyn Severs take a break from album viewing.
And finally....
Bev and Nigel Anderson get their picture taken by a mystery photographer. Thanks to Nigel who took all the other photos on this page.
