The Humpbacked Whale

The Humpbacked whale is quite commonly known but all people really know about it is it's hump and even then they may not know where it really is. The Humpback gets it's name from it's dorsal fin which is rather humped in appearance. It does have little knobbly bits on it's head that could look like humps but they aren't on the back. When the Humpback Whale dives it will normally stick it's flukes into the air before it starts. They have to swim a fair way to get to where they migrate and give birth. They start off in Antarctica and when they want to mate or give birth they swim to Austrailia. They can also grow to be 19 metres long but on average they only grow to be about 15 metres long.
