SWI Summer Outing: Tyne Cruise - Tuesday 19th June 2007 |
|
For the Summer outing SWI and friends cruised down the Tyne aboard the River Escapes Fortuna. The cruise set off from the quayside at Newcastle and sailed under the specially lifted Gateshead Millennium bridge. It then turned back and headed downstream as far as the mouth of the Tyne, before returning. The commentary told everyone the history of the river, and we witnessed the sad sight of the cranes being removed from the Swan Hunter site. All this excitement was followed by a meal out at the Church Mouse at Chester Moor. A very enjoyable day!

SWI Pewter Craft Day - Saturday 9th June 2007
Edna Oswald showed us how to make a pewter bookmark and brooch, which when shined looks like silver! Everyone was very impressed with their handiwork and the effects that were possible to achieve in even this short time (see photo below!).
