We are a small village club, renowned for our friendliness and wanting nothing more than to enjoy ourselves playing bowls and "having a crack" with friends from near and afar. To be sure, visitors are always welcome.
Skelton is situated some 8 miles north west of Penrith and very close to the English Lake District.
The club has a long and varied history dating back to its foundation when 2 members of the local gentry, Mr Cowper and Mr Topping (of P&O Liners fame) donated money and land to build a Community Hall with Bowling Green.
Since then, the club has prospered and now has about 80 playing members. The bower has been replaced and extended and will comfortably accommodate a visiting team. The playing surface is second-to-none, thanks to the tireless efforts of our (unpaid) greenkeepers and members.
We play many friendly matches with both Cumbrian and visiting teams and many of our members enter numerous local, regional and national competitions. Our most successful player is Mrs. Cindy Edmondson who has County and International Honours and who has played in the All England Finals on a number of occasions.
Please visit our main site for more details about the club.
