1. Reunion 2002

Start of a great night at The Normanby

The reunion was organised by Marlene (Tranter) Dales and Pam (Gatenby) Murtha who were assisted at the door by Barbara Wilson. Unfortunately Barbara kept talking while I took the photo and she'll go mad when she sees this!
There was a payment at the door to cover costs of room and disco and they decided to buy a bench seat for the cemetery with the surplus and any remaining will go to charity.
There was a good turn out although quite a number who said they would be there failed to turn up which was a pity because it was a really good night. I was most disapointed by Kenny Wicks who was in the bar downstairs but couldn't make the journey up the stairs.
I took photos of those who made it and thought I'd got everyone but now know Some escaped the lens!
Where I've missed a name please email me to put it right! Thanks!

2. The M Squad

Maureen (Dodds), Marion (Nixon) and Maureen (McMillan)

There's always plenty to talk about.

3. Talking is thirsty work

Bar queue

Heading the queue are Marian (Cox) Kirsop and Doreen Penketh while Richie Sharples is half hidden behind two others, followed by Noah Massey, Tommy Searle and Don Muter.

Carmen McKenna's family had the shop on Napier Street called "The Shamrock" and she said she was always known as "Little Carmen". Peter is her cousin and his family had a shop in Lower Milbank Street.

9. Jean Kent and Friends

10. Doreen and Jimmy

Jimmy Collins gives Doreen Penketh a protective arm!

11. Three of the girls!

l-r: Joyce Barnett (nee Duncan), Joan Lodge and Una Forsyth.

Una sent in the names and said "Everyone knew me. I was a right gobshite!" Surely not!!

Una also told me a tale of the playground when she started to climb up to the roof of the Central, using the grooves at the corners of the building, in order to retrieve a tennis ball. Halfway up, the first whistle blew and everyone stood still. Una froze, hoping the teacher would not look up. The second whistle went for everyone to file back into the school after which Una quickly descended and rushed back to her class - and got the stick for being late!

Keep the stories coming in, Folks!

Ex 97 South Terrace, Brian went to Cromwell Road School, the Central and then passed the 13+ to go to Eston Tech, Branch End (which later became the Boys Club). Brian now lives in Canada but has worked all over the world.
Howard, being much younger, was only at Cromwell Road for a year before the family moved to Redcar. He always had a love of trains and now buys and sells model trains, attending fairs all over the country.
While they both enjoyed the get-together, Brian only remembered a few people and no one remembered Howard! Except me!!
