1. Two Johns and Popsi

John Wilson, John Chard and Alan (Popsi) Pool

Another year, another reunion and a good crowd turning up. It was a good night.
Quite a few didn't make it but that was made up by a lot of first-timers although some of them must have been camera shy and dodged my lens.
Among those I saw but didn't phtograph were Brian Griffiths (Little Griff), Stan Moore and Ricky Wilkinson plus someone I was talkng to near the bar but I can't remember who! And how did I miss Ray Ward? He usually loves the camera!

2. Marlene's Welcome

Organiser Marlene Dales (nee Tranter) welcomes old friends

l-r: Marlene, Alan Jones, Tommy Wyke, Cynthia Vaughn, Cathy Wyke, Mary Jones.

3. Ged Banks surfaces

Ged with his two younger sisters Rita and Frances

Ged Banks has returned to the area after being exiled "darn souf" for the best part of forty years. I had told him of our little do at the Normanby but hadn't expected him to turn up. Anyway, he not only turned up but also brought his two sisters and brother Terry.
He thoroughly enjoyed the night and can't wait for next year!

4. Ged and Sisters

Watch the birdie!

Ged, Rita and Frances look up for the archives!

5. Terry, Ged and Jeff

Terry and Ged Banks with Jeff Blakeman

6. Cross conversations

Terry Banks and Joe Shackleton exchange greetings

7. The Boys (1)

Brian Turner, Reg Ward and Alan Purvis

8. The Boys (2)

?, Brian Turner, Reg Ward

When you come into the reunion Barbara Wilson puts your name on a sticker which she clags onto your chest and everyone spends the night looking at the labels then exclaiming "Ee, is that YOU?!"
Unfortunately this year's labels weren't very sticky and kept falling off which makes it difficult for me to identify some people.
If I get a name wrong or use a "?" please write in to correct me.

9. The Boys (3)

?, Brian, Reg and Alan

10. Sylvia Brown

18. Brian Lazenby

Not a grey hair in his head - no wonder he's smiling with Joe!

19. Brian's Table

Brian with Joe Shackleton and Tommy Searle

In the background at the next table is Jimmy Keir Adams - Joe's brother-in-law and "the oldest man here"! Sorry to say this is the only photo I took of him. I seem to have missed quite a few people in the course of the night...

20. Hi Brian

Someone else joins Brian's group but I can't place him

21. Yank Sullivan

I recognised Yank immediately but he couldn't place me

Mind you, I can't remember his Christian name, having always called him "Yank" and he was telling me he's now into theatricals - an actor no less! He's certainly changed, even though I knew him straight off. He's taller, yes, and better looking. Strange how some people improve with age while others....

22. Three unidentified

I feel I know the girl on the left but you'll have to write in

23. Denyse and Pat

Denyse Bullock (Cross Street) and Pat Sutton (Cromwell Road)

24. Tony Marriott

Tony is married to Pat and for compensation he is allowed to drive her to our Do!

25. Harry Harvey

Harry with his wife and her friend(?)

Harry hails from King Sreet where his dad had his Cobblers Shop. I remember his father (Walter?) who used to wear a black apron as he worked and his three sons were Wally, Harry and Alan.
I must say that Harry hasn't changed much except in the hair department. Incidentally, he sent me a couple of photos of his dad in the First World War and of his son now in Basra, Iraq which will be appearing on the Military Service page.

He's a few years younger than me and lived diagonally opposite Barry Wagner and near David Cotton...

34. ? with ?

The end of an excellent night

A message to all those who didn't make it on the night...
The photos are seen all over the world by old friends who are now Ex-Pats and if they don't see you... they think you've passed on! So next year, make a date.
We'll make sure we have a new batch of name labels which won't fall off and the world will see what lovely people come from South Bank and still live in the area.

69. The Campbells are going

Derek and Roy Campbell either side of Ronald Caswell

70. And its Goodnight from them
