Saltburn by the Sea
The Town has much to offer the visitor
Saltburn by the Sea is a small town which was developed by the Victorians, as a resort and a place which could be visited for the day when the railway was built. A statue of Henry Pease, the principal founder, can be seen above the prom near the children’s playground and the convalescent home.
You can go down the cliff lift which is worked by water, to enjoy the sandy beach, or walk along the prom and the pier. At the other side of the town there is parkland and an elegant formal garden which can be reached by the miniature train which operates from the car park at the foot of the Cliff. Close to the Garden is the Woodland Centre which offers a wealth of environmental information. The town is excellent for a day trip as you can visit most of the sites, even when walking is not your strength!
