British Steel Sports 4 South Bank St Peters FC 6

We got off to a great start in this game with us leading 5-2 at the break with goals from GRAEME WATSON 2 RICKY PHILLIPS, KEVIN WATSON and PETER TRUSCOTT. In the second half we took our foot off the pedal and allowed them to get back into the game they to their credit pulled it back to 5-4 before a wonder goal from PETER TRUSCOTT settled our nerves.

South Bank St Peters FC 4 NS Bulls Head 2

We played some superb football in the first half again and should have put this game to bed in the 1st half at the break we led 4-1 with goals from GRAEME WATSON,RICKY PHILLIPS,MICHAEL KEENEN and PETER TRUSCOTT they got one back from the penalty spot. In the second half we worked hard but got no reward they scored another but a good team performance gave us the three points.

Coulby Newham 2 South Bank St Peters FC 4

Two new signings started todays match Karl Wall brought in to harden the midfield and Glen Wesson a pacy attacking minded midfield/striker.
Our performance in the 1st half was one of the best I have ever seen we showed patience and worked hard to break down a tough Coulby Defence. Kevin Watson was outstanding in Defence for us saving us on numerous occasions whilst the forwards worked very hard against an annoying offside trap well marshalled by Coulbys Paul Kirby. It took us till the 35th min to open the scoring with good work from Wesson and Peter Truscott resulting in a good finish from GRAEME WATSON. Two Mins later PETER TRUSCOTT broke through and finished in style and just before Half time they were at it again Watson combining with PETER TRUSCOTT putting it away with ease.
Second half we created many chances but they were allowed back into it with a dubious penalty and a soft goal but for the Third game running PETER TRUSCOTT completed his Hat trick to put the game beyond doubt for our third win on the belt.

South Bank St Peters FC 4 Grangetown YCC 2004 2

At half time I was glad that it was only 1-0 to them as we were playing well and that we had the wind in the second half our Keeper had kept the score down but we also created numerous chances ourselves. We went into this game with our three main strikers out of action so it was up to the young guns to salvage the game great work from Andy Truscott set MARC DRURY up to tap in the equaliser then a superb goal from RICKY PHILLIPS put us in front. ANDY TRUSCOTT was brilliant all game and it was his goal that put us 3-1 up they grabbed a gift of a goal but minutes later ANDY TRUSCOTT put the game beyond doubt with his 2nd. A very entertaining game with our possesion and movement improving with each game. MOM Gary Naylor.

South Bank St Peters FC 0 Longlands Hotel 3

The game was a fairly even contest in the first 15 mins with Andy Truscott having a good chance in the 1st minute, then disaster struck as we were down to ten men with Kevin Watson getting himself sent off we carried on creating chances but with that advantage Longlands ran out comfortable winners goals from Myers , Maloney and Agiadis. Our man of the Match was Karl Wall.

2-10-04 North Skelton 1 South Bank St Peters 2

This was a North Riding Challenge Cup Match played at North Skelton Recreation Ground which can boast the best facilities in the league. A scrappy first half with our chances limited in the 1st half due to some close offside decisions and playing against the wind we went in at half time 1-0 down which didnt worry us as we knew that we would turn it around after the break virtually straight away we equalised through ANTHONY GREGORY and ten Minutes later we were in front when GRAM WATSON sped away from the last defender to put it between the Keepers legs. Their Goalkeeper turned out to be their man of the match as he kept us at bay for the remainder of the half we should have made the scoreline a little cosier when awarded a penalty which Gary Naylor took and missed the target then it had to be retaken and he missed the target again!!!!!
All in All a win was secured and a nice away tie would be nice.

South Bank St Peters FC 0 Ennis Square 2

From the opening five minutes we were struggling against their pacy forwards and fell behind as early as the 15th minute when a good passing move resulted in a tap in for Nicky Rodgers we made moves to get back into the match and our Keeper Lee Stephenson turned in a Man of the Match performance to keep us in with a shout but late in the match we conceded a needless penalty which was put away by Mr Consistent Jon Kirk. All in all another poor performance from my side we will have to start putting the ball away instead of trying the spectacular all the time.

South Bank St Peters 5 British Steel Sports 0

I was away for this game and the lads put in their performance of the Season some good passing football and good partnerships Anthony Gregory got a brace then the superb Andy Truscott finished of the move of the game before John Lodge and Graeme Watson sealed the game.

South Bank St Peters FC 3 Rudds Arms 1

A very entertaining match between two very similar young teams with my boys having the upper hand throughout, A strong Centre back partnership between Kevin Watson and Terry Mcclaughlin set the foundations for a good solid performance. Our first goal came from an exiting flowing move from Wesson and Truscott who created the opening for GREGORY to slot home, chances went begging when Watson clipped the post and shot tamely at the keeper and Peter Truscott hitting 1 over from a couple of yards out with the ball coming at him too quick.
Half Time SBSP 1 Rudds 0
The second half started brightly and we soon had chances to increase our lead. With an hour on the clock the move of the game with 6 players involved and the final ball fell to PETER TRUSCOTT who finished in style. Ten Minutes later a similar move ended with Andy Truscott crashing the ball against the post from 25 yards out this would have been goal of the season without a doubt but 2 mins later we increased the lead when the ball fell to KARL WALL and with the Keeper trying to get back on his line he chipped the ball home from 30 yards, the Rudds to their credit never gave up and were rewarded with a consolation on the final whistle.

On 15 minutes a great through ball by Phillips sent PETER TRUSCOTT clear and he finished in style, just before half time another Peter Truscott run ended with KEENEN slotting home HT TV 0 SBSP 3.
We started were we left off after the restart and a long clearance from our Keeper Lee Stephenson sent CRAIG MCCITTERICK racing away he let it bounce once and let fly from 20 yards hitting the top corner with the goal of the game. Our fifth goal was scored by KEVIN WATSON a header from a Peter Truscott corner our scoring was completed with GREGORY tapping home from 6 yards they scored a couple of late goals but we had already sewn the game up after playing some great football. Andy Truscott ran in another Man Of the Match performance in midfield but his brother Peter cant have been to far behind.

Sinnington 6 South Bank St Peters FC 6 Won 4-3 on Pens

A cow field somewhere near Pickering was the venue for our North Riding cup tie we had the worst Referee I have ever had the misfortune to come across. He sent 2 players off for us and the lads still got the result. We went into a 2-0 lead with goals from KEVIN WATSON and GLEN WESSON but somehow they drew level until PETER TRUSCOTT put our 9 men back in front then they got a free kick on the edge of the box with 4 minutes remaining and grabbed a draw sending the tie into Extra Time they went in front 4-3 before ANTHONY GREGORY got a Hat trick putting us 6-4 in front but they still came back and got a draw. In the Penalty Shoot out we missed our 1st 2 penas before GREGORY,WESSON,KEENEN,and our sub Keeper ANTHONY WALKER got the winner. An entertaining game for our supporters but if it wasnt for the ref we would have been home a lot earlier.

South Park 1 South Bank St Peters FC 4

We totally dominated this match from start to finish with the whole team doing their bit and played some excellent football at times. Peter Truscott was Man of the Match with a brace of goals and Gram Watson and Anthony Gregory adding to that total. GRAM WATSON got the 1st after good work from Peter Truscott and Glen Wesson then 15 mins later a Great cross from Wesson was met with a deft header from PETER TRUSCOTT. Wesson was also involved with the 3rd when he set ANTHONY GREGORY away who buried the ball from the edge of the box and PETER TRUSCOTT chased a lost cause when the ball was played back to their Keeper but the Keeper never came quick enough and he nipped in to finish in style. Another promising performance and with 3 1st team players missing a good job was done.

South Bank St Peters FC 4 Stokesley 2

The game started like a whirlwind as we bombarded their goal at regular intervals but their goalkeeper earned the man of the match award for saving them from at least double figures against. Our 1st goal was a sweet 25 yard strike from KARL WALL leaving the Keeper with no chance then 10 mins later a pin point pass into the path of GRAM WATSON from Anthony Gregory sent him away and he rounded the Keeper with style to make it 2-0 how that remained the scoreline till half time amazed me but their Keeper made 4-5 good saves to keep us at bay.
Ten minutes into the 2nd half normal service resumed with KEVIN WATSON heading home a Peter Truscott corner. We then hit the post twice in the space of 5 minutes through Gram Watson and Glen Wesson. On the hour we seemed to think we had done enough but when they snatched a goal back it should have given us a wake up call but 10 mins later we were in it even more when our Keeper brought down the on rushing striker and they scored from the spot to give us a nail biting 3-2 scoreline. Two good penalty shouts from ourselves finally got rewarded when GREGORY was upended in the box and he brushed his self down to put it away. We still had chance after chance to increase the scoreline but 4-2 it stayed. Man of the match for us was GLEN WESSON.

British Steel Sports 4 South Bank St Peters 4 Won 3-1 on pens

We took half an hour to get into this game and by that time we were 3-1 down with MICHAEL KEENEN getting our goal on the stroke of half time JOHN LODGE pulled another back to put us back in it at Half Time 3-2
All of the 2nd half we pushed for the equaliser and had to wait till 2 mins from time when substitute Gregory was brought down and LODGE converted from the spot. 3-3
We took the lead in extra time with a Hat Trick goal from JOHN LODGE before they equalised to bring us to penalties.
Two great saves from our Keeper LEE STEPHENSON kept us on course for a semi final after penalties were converted by KARL WALL, LODGE and GRAEME WATSON

North Riding Cup

Ennis Square 3 South Bank St Peters 2

Whilst leading 2-0 with quality goals from GRAEME WATSON a run from his own half and a 30 yard lob we looked comfortable and should have finished the game in the 1st half but we conceded an own goal on the stroke of half time that totally changed the complexion of the tie. Second half we had chances to wrap it but got caught in the last 15 minutes when two goal from Ennis sealed the tie. The Referee did nothing to give us a break and we were out.

Stokesley 0 South Bank St Peters 3

This was one of the most pleasing performances of the season with us playing neat football and creating numerous chances and remaining solid at the back. Goalkeeper Raymond Chard made his debut in for the suspended Lee Stephenson and he performed well to keep only our 2nd clean sheet of the season. On the half hour we took the lead when ANTHONY GREGORY finished in style after great work from Peter Truscott although we created many chances thats how it remained till after the break when Andrew Truscott sent the ball into the box GREGORY turned neatly for his second then 10 minutes later a mazy run from Michael Keenen ended with him squaring the ball for GREGORY to complete his Hat trick. Andrew Truscott got MOM but the whole defence worked well to ensure a clean sheet.

St Marys College 1 South Bank St Peters FC 2

This was our biggest test of the season so far against opposition sitting at the top of the table. With a full squad at my disposal it was a one sided affair with St Marys only testing our keeper on one occasion, our midfield was outstanding and controlled the game. After 10 mins we cracked the woodwork when Anthony Gregory cut inside from the right and drove against the bar. On the half hour our nerves were settled when JOHN LODGE drove a low drive into the bottom left hand corner, we hit the post just before half time with Truscott forcing the Keeper to push it onto the post. After half time we thought that we would be under the cosh because they had the wind but it was us once again forcing the pace and creating numerous chances. Gregory went to the byeline and crossed for Lodge to tap home but he blazed it over from 6 yards. Ten minutes later an exact same move resulted in our second goal and LODGE was not missing this time, after that Glen Wesson struck the post after rounding the Keeper and Andy Truscott forced an excellent save from Thomas Straker after good work from Karl Wall. In injury time a defensive mix up led to an own goal being conceded but it done nothing to dampen our spirits with this great win that leaves us 4 points behind the top teams with 3 games in hand.

South Bank St Peters FC 2 Thornaby Mandale 2

Following on from last weeks terrific result this was agood chance to close on the top three, but as sometimes happens in football we were kicked in the teeth and were fortunate to come away with a point. In a scrappy first half John Symon gave Mandale the lead after 20 mins and we tried to get back in the game but our Strikers were not on form missing 2 one on ones so thats how it remained till half time. After the break we were steadily getting on top and levelled from a Graeme Watson corner KEVIN WATSON scrambled the ball over the line, chance after chance by either side with us going close through new signing Peter Snaith and Glen Wesson. Thornaby broke away and scored a sloppy goal which left us chasing the points 5 mins later we were level through GREGORY laid on again by Gram Watson. We never really got started today and were grateful for the point other times we would have lost so all eyes onto the Semi Final next week where we need to play a Lot better to ensure our first major final appearance.

A final awaited the winners of this tie at Guisboroughs ground mid March and we responded in style we played some brilliant football at times but Stokesley to their credit had numerous chances to put them in front but our Keeper Lee Stephenson was outstanding. ANTHONY GREGORY broke the deadlock when he drilled a low drive into the net after beating 2 stokesley defenders thats how it remained till half time, after the break a great goal from the mercurial GLEN WESSON set us up for victory but Stokesley pulled one back from a 25yard free kick from KEMP but when PETER TRUSCOTT was brought down in the box he dusted himself off to put the bankers into their first major final as a Football Club from the spot.

South Bank St Peters FC 3 Coulby Newham 0

This game finally went ahead after a lot of hardwork by the groundstaff before Kick Off. The game itself was an exiting affair with both teams struggling to come to terms with the uneven pitch and the wet conditions, we seemed to handle it better with Coulby failing to come to terms with the offside trap, Our cause was helped when KEVIN WATSON headed home his 6th of the season from a Peter Truscott corner after 4 minutes, it wasnt till the second half that we put the game out of their reach despite numerous chances through Wesson, Lodge and Wall. The second half followed the same pattern GRAEME WATSON drilled a low drive into the left hand corner after excellent work from Man of the Match Glen Wesson, Ten minutes from time JOHN LODGE picked the ball up 30 yards from goal and dribbled his way to the edge of the area to chip home our third goal and sal the three points. A great win even when we we down to the bare bones with 14 players available.

A brilliant team performance in the 2nd half sealed this convincing win to keep us in the title hunt Peter Snaith scored 1st when accelerating past defenders and when Graeme Watson made it 2-0 in th 25th minute things looked good but a soft goal on the stroke of half time took the edge of a good 1st half performance. HT 2-1
Graeme Watson added to his tally when executing a perfect free kick that had the Keeper clutching thin air, then the goal rush started when Ricky Phillips chipped over the Keeper in the 65th minute. Peter Truscott scored the goal of the game with an acrobatic scissor kick that rifled into the top corner from 12 yards then goals from Andy Truscott and Marc Drury sealed our most convincing win to date this season.

NS Bulls Head 2 South Bank St Peters FC 5

Difficult conditions for both teams today as the pitch was poor and a stong wind meant that both teams had to adapt. Bulls Head started against the wind and their Keeper kept our long range efforts at bay the deadlock was finally broken after 25 frustrating minutes when ADAM HUGILL looped over the Keeper from 18 yards out. Peter Snaith was looking lively and when he skipped past 3 defenders and cut to the byeline he delivered the perfect cross for the head of Graeme Watson which the Keeper scooped from behind the goalline everyone but the Referee thought it was a goal even their Keeper, Bulls head deservedly equalised 5 mins from Half time and then went ahead straight after the break that seemed to kickstart us into gear and we started playing football like we know we can a great ball from Kevin Watson landed on the chest of GRAEME WATSON who accelerated to goal and buried it under the Keepers dive, 5 Minutes later Peter Truscott was felled in the box and GRAEME WATSON took the responsibility. In the 80th minute a Graeme Watson corner was headed home by PETER TRUSCOTT his 14th of the campaign and the game was wrapped up at the end when GRAEME WATSON bagged his third a great header from a Adam Hugill ball. A good solid performance but we made hard work on a tough afternoon. The impressive Peter Snaith was carried off with 10 mins to go when a malicious last ditch tackle brought him crashing hopefully it doesnt look like hes broken anything but will be sore for many weeks.

South Bank St Peters FC 0 Kings Head 2

Todays top of the table clash with Kings Head did not get off to a good start with no fewer than 6 1st Teamers missing so I played with what I had and they done me and themselves proud. Kings Head brought a strong side and looked in control for the 1st 10 minutes and went 1-0 up when ex-banker Brian Crawley rose highest in our box to unleash an unstoppable header, from that point we were in total control of the game and applied pressure on their goal but to no avail.
Billy Bedingfield and Kevin Watson were outstanding in the centre of defence, Ricky Phillips was awesome in midfield with a performance that belies his young age and another youngster Marc Drury was a thorn in the Kings Head defence all game. In our quest to grab an equaliser Kings Head wrapped up the points with a breakaway goal in the final minute with a goal from Paul Round Jnr. An excellent game from all of my team who with a couple of our finishers available would surely have given Kings Head more to worry about we were never outplayed at any stage and their Manager praised us at the end saying the best team lost but you get nothing from Football if you cant put it in the onion bag.

South Bank St Peters FC 2 PJS FC 2

A lot of players missing today due to work commitments and the birth of Andrew Truscotts Son meant that a few players had to play out of position and players that would have been on the bench had to start and when I seen the PJS team I knew that they were at their strongest but apart from two early defensive mistakes we ran the game and only for an open goal miss in the final minute we would have had all 3 points. Andy Fixter put Pjs 2 goals up when capitalising on the 2 mistakes after 20 minutes from then on we were in the driving seat and pulled a goal back just before half time through GREGORY after a string of early misses. Second Half we played some attractive attacking football with the Phillips Brothers running the midfield and Craig Mccitterick turning in a Man of the Match performance on the left. Ten Minutes from time a PJS player handled in the box and PETER TRUSCOTT calmly slotted the ball home from the spot in the final minute Gregory beat the defence and squared the ball for Substitute Reed with the goal at his mercy and failed to connect that would have settled the tie it made Kanus look difficult. Grangetown took the lead from a corner but minutes later CALVIN FOLEY equalised with a bullet header from a Truscott corner thats how it remained till half time with Bankers on top for long periods early in the 2nd half Grangetown took the lead against the run of play Bankers were throwing the Kitchen sink at the Grangetown defence and were rewarded when the ball fell to KEVIN WATSON on the edge of the area and he rifled a low drive through a crowd of players to send the tie into extra time. A welcome return for Gary Naylor and Graeme Watson as they led Bankers to a convincing midweek win. The pitch was like a cow field and the ball was like a rugby ball but we still ground out a deserved win. PETER TRUSCOTT stooped low to put the Bankers in front on the stroke of Half time with a perfect header and South Bank continued to dominate all second half with Andy Truscott pulling the strings in the midfield. A tight close game with Stokesley using the advantage of the wind in the 1st half to use the Long Ball tactic that our defence coped well with and Mick Rounding keeping the scores level in the goal and Kevin Watson solid in the centre of Defence. The game remained goalless on a hard bumpy pitch. Into extra time GRAHAM COUSINS broke away after a great ball from Mark Phillips and finished in style and in the 2nd period the game was finished off by a MARK PHILLIPS header Stokesley pulled a goal back in last minute because we had switched off but that was their only shot on target in Extra Time.

We changed things around at half time Bringing ANTHONY GREGORY on as Substitute and he changed things banging a Hat Trick and could have had more, an easily forgettable 1st half but an outstanding 2nd brought us the points.

I had the bare 11 players available but they pulled it together and ran out comfortable winners in the end. An Alan French cross was met at the far post by GRAEME WATSON to put us 1-0 up to their credit they pulled level when the ball caught the wind and ended up in the back of our net Ten minutes later a wonder strike from PETER SNAITH put us back in front he caught the ball sweet as a nut fron 12 yards out on the half volley. After half time a goal from PETER TRUSCOTT settled us down and further goals from JOHN WEBSTER(2) and a 2nd for SNAITH settled the tie. Snaith had a great chance for his hat trick to cap off a man of the match performance but missed from 2 yards out.

Rudds Arms 5 South Bank St Peters FC 1

This league cup Semi Final was billed as a tight edgy affair but at the end we knew we were beaten by the best team. At 1-0 down at half time due to a dodgy 2 min penalty we were in with a shout but Rudds seemed to have the greater desire and worked well as a unit to destroy us through the middle PETER SNAITH pulled 1 back to make it 3-1 but Rudds ran out comfortable winners as they added two more. Good luck to them in the final if they play like that they deserve it.

South Bank St Peters FC 3 St Marys College OB 0

The first half tonight was the best I have seen this season good Midfield and working together as a unit. ANTHONY GREGORY put us in front from the spot and he set GRAEME WATSON away to put us 2-0 up. Gregory was the provider once again as CRAIG MCCITTERICK slotted home our third on the stroke of half time. Many chances were created in the 2nd half but the scoreline remained the same.

Thornaby Mandale 0 South Bank St Peters FC 7

Mandale were struggling for a side at the start with players playing out of position but that said we totally dominated and put in a good performance we were 7-0 up after 40 mins and never added to that scoreline with us rattling the crossbar at least 3 times. ANTHONY GREGORY led the way with 5 goals and JOHN LODGE got 2.

KIngs Head 2 South Bank St Peters FC 2

This match was played at a frantic pace and the tackles flying in were not for the faint hearted both teams gave it their all and a end to end game ended in a draw. Kings Head took the lead after 15 mins through an offside goal from BRIAN CRAWLEY this kick started us into gear and we started playing the ball about and had numerous efforts to level but it took a wonder goal from PETER TRUSCOTT to pull us level and 10 mins later ANTHONY GREGORY produced an even better effort that left the Keeper plucking thin air. Thats how it remained till 70 mins when PAUL ROUND JNR headed home from a corner Bankers had many chances to win it and the best chance fell to Alan French who used his pace to get behind the Kings Head defence drilled it against the post and the rebound bounced of Gregorys knee to safety. Kings Head held on to become League Champions but we pushed them all the way and were the better team on the night.
