Bankers win 1st Major Honour

A good following of supporters were there last night to witness South Bank St Peters FC win the Stokesley League Challenge Cup at the expense of their closest rivals and Holders Rudds Arms. At the beginning of the match there was no love lost as both teams refused to shake hands which was fine by us we started well and created chances but both teams had well marshalled defences we took the lead from the penalty spot as Gregory was pushed in the box and then the defender handled, up popped GRAEME WATSON to despatch a cool drive, Rudds equalised from the spot as a South Bank player handled and 10 minutes before half time Gregory sprung the offside trap and rifled a ball across the Keeper which STEVE OSBORNE bundled over the line. HALF TIME ST PETERS 2 RUDDS 1.
During the Half Time interval we stressed that another goal would seal the game and we duly delivered again Gregory was bundled over on the edge of the Rudds Arms penalty Area, ANTHONY GREGORY took the free kick himself and it bounced over the line for his 38th goal of the season. At the final scenes emotional Banker supporters celebrated into the night A great performance in which we dominated from start to finish.
