VENIS FREE KICK SEALS 1ST POINTS OF THE SEASON
We opened our account for the season with 3 points that were hard earned but fully deserved and we should have ran out more comfortable winners. We took the lead after 14 minutes when Gregory slid a neat return pass into the path of ANTHONY REED who made no mistake from 8 yards out they equalised with a bullet header from a corner and thats how it remained till half time. After the break we should have sealed the match a lot earlier than we did Paul Venis broke from midfield and was 1 on 1 with the keeper his shot was parried into the path of the onrushing PETER HOE who tapped into an empty net. The game was all but over when PAUL VENIS unleashed a Beckham like free kick over the hapless wall they pulled a goal back after some sloppy defending but we held on for all 3 points.

GREGORY HAT TRICK SECURES EASY BANKERS WIN
A warm evening produced a red hot display from a very good Bankers side. We took the lead when youngster MATTY HAMMERTON neatly sidefooted home for a goal on his debut, Great Ayton equalised
10 mins later but further goals from ANTHONY REED and ANTHONY GREGORY increased South Banks lead a rare mistake at the back allowed Ayton to give the scoreline some respectability and at Half time the Bankers led 3-2. A fantastic display in the 2nd half and the Bankers ran out comfortable winners, ANTHONY GREGORY completed his Hat trick with a stunning 25 yard strike and PETER HOE tapped in for 6-2 but the scoring was not over and when MICHAEL KEENEN ran out from Left Back he played a neat 1-2 and collected the return and struck a sweet drive into the top corner from all of 30 yards for the goal of the game.

KEENEN 2ND WONDER GOAL SAVES SOUTH BANK BLUSHES
This was a game to easily forget as the wind and players Hangovers all took their toll. Teesside Athletic were 1-0 up at the break and South Bank had their Keeper Willey to thank for keeping the score down. Bankers started a bit brighter after the break and could have got themselves straight back into it if Calvin Foleys shot never hit the angle of post and bar, but ten minutes later another thunderbolt from MICHAEL KEENEN got us back on level terms and thats how it stayed despite us throwing everything at their Defence

BANKERS MISS TWO PENALTIES ON WAY TO DEFEAT
A very tight game tonight as both teams cancelled each other out for the 1st 20 mins. Ennis took the lead through Jon Kirk and we equalised on the stroke of Half time through ANTHONY REED. In the second half we could have been more goals behind but our defence stood firm and when our centre back Jay Lappin limped off Ennis took advantage and pushed forward and scored 2 goals in quick succession, we still could have got ourselves back into the match but missed 2 (two) penalties that would have got us a share of the spoils but it just didnt happen.

AGAR DEBUT GOAL AS BANKERS BATTLE FOR POINT
A much better performance today from the Bankers compared to that of Wednesday and although we had the bare 11 to start with they all worked extremely hard and we were leading 1-0 at the break a goal from CARL AGAR on his debut after good work from Gregory. The Defence were working well together but however one mistake was all they needed to grab a share of the points and although we had several chances to win the game a draw was probably the fairest outcome but a very pleasing one at that.

SUPER SIX FROM THE AWESOME ANTHONY REED
A Goal Fest down at the St Peters School today as the Bankers ran in 15 against an under strength but strong willed Spraire Lads. The floodgates opened after 2 mins when ANTHONY REED poked home on the Quarter hour CARL AGAR doubled our lead, on 21 mins a perfectly delivered ball from captain Keenen fell into the path of young MATTY HAMMERTON who slotted home then the game turned into the ANTHONY REED show as he scored in the 27th minute, then scored a 3 minute hat trick in the 38th,39th and 41st minute to leave the score at 7-1 at the break. We added another 8 goals in the 2nd half TERRY MCCLAUGHLIN volleyed home in the 46th minute, then MICHAEL WILSON eventually scored after about 10 shots off target, ANTHONY REED got his 6th and South Banks 10th on the hour,CARL AGAR got his 2nd after 61 minutes, MATTY HAMMERTON scored after 70mins then a minute later completed his Hat
Trick, Next it was CARL AGAR to complete his 1st Hat Trick for the club in the 77th minute and the scoring was completed when AGAR scored with a bullet header after 86 minutes.

GREAT TEAM PERFORMANCE AS GREGORY DOUBLE SEALS WIN
We produced our finest 1st half performance today this season as we ripped apart a very good Bedale side, It was not one way traffic however as our Keeper Mick Rounding had to produce 2 or 3 Top class saves to keep us in it, the scoring got underway when ANTHONY GREGORY found space on the right and jinked his way past 2 defenders and cooly slotted home at the far post, the another move from Gregory set PAUL VENIS away and he neatly hammered under the Keepers body for 2-0, they pulled one back but we played more good Football and GREGORY found himself away after a good ball from Keenen. After the break Bedale pegged us back to 3-2 with a sloppy header from a corner, this seemed to wake us up and it was that man again Gregory who squared the ball for CARL AGAR who showed bravery in slotting home and getting his self injured in the process, the scoring was completed when Gregory was up ended in the box and GRAEME WATSON scored his 1st of the season from the spot. A great performance against a well organised and experienced Bedale side.

BANKERS CLASS SHINES THROUGH IN CUP MATCH
A very even 1st half hour today down at St Peters School with the Bankers going close through Venis and Gregory. Against the run of play Darlington took the lead but this was soon cancelled out as ANTHONY REED rose like a salmon to nod home a Gregory cross. Half time St Peters 1 Darlington 1
A great start to the 2nd half when PAUL VENIS volleyed home from a corner from 12 yards out, ANTHONY GREGORY made it 3-1 when he skipped over a couple of challenges to drill home and to round the scoring off a great 6 man team move resulted in GRAEME WATSON sliding the ball home off the far post. The whole defence today deserved special praise as they were outstanding Mark Phiilips,Michael Keenen,Calvin Foley and Terry Mcclaughlin with Foley grabbing the Man of the Match.

WELL DESERVED POINT FOR BATTLING BANKERS
We fielded a very under strength side today as work commitments and the Boro Match interfered with our team selection but the lads done us proud and we ground out a draw which could easily have been a win. We took the lead early when ANTHONY GREGORY weaved his way through the defence to slot home then SRM came back at us but the defence stood firm they did grab an equaliser just before half time then 3 minutes into the 2nd half we fell further behind but on 52 mins CARL AGAR capitalised on a poor ball from their Keeper to cooly slot the ball home from 20 yards, Ten minutes later it got even better for the Bankers as a pinpoint ball out of Defence from Terry Mcclaughlin sent GRAEME WATSON away to score his 3rd of the Season, it was too good to be true for Bank as a short corner was not cut out and Darlington got an equaliser with 5 mins remaining, Overall a good point won by a scratch squad but it could have been three.

HAT TRICK HERO WATSON STARS IN ROUT
It took us a while to get going today as Kader were putting plenty of men behind the ball and when we fell behind that seemed to wake us up. A bad injury to Michael Keenen after 30minutes forced us into a change with Billy Bedingfield coming on for him and within 2 minutes we were level through the an OG and 3 minutes later we went in front through ANTHONY GREGORY and a minute before half time we increased our lead with BEDINGFIELD slotting home HT SP 3 BK 1.
In the 2nd half we stepped up a gear and GRAEME WATSON rounded the keeper after 54 mins, CARL AGAR continued his scoring with a header after 60 mins GRAEME WATSON got his 2nd from the spot after 65 mins. Next to score for us was MATTY HAMMERTON finishing off a good team move after 68 mins, GRAEME WATSON completed his Hat Trick after 78 mins and our scoring was finished as it started with an OG after 2 defenders collided and knocked the ball in the back of the net.

AGAR ON FIRE WITH DOUBLE TO SEAL WIN
A good team performance this afternoon as we came up against a tough well organised side who we had only drew with earlier in the season. Another slow start from us we took about 20 mins to carve out our 1st real chance but as the week before we fell behind on the half hour and it wasnt until the last move of the 1st half that we equalised as Gregory took the ball to the bye line and delivered the perfect cross for CARL AGAR to smash home with a bullit header. After the break it was AGAR again who supplied the finish after 50 mins to put us back in front, 5 minutes later we put the game out of Teessides reach when GRAEME WATSON continued his purple patch with a cool finish and in the final minute it took Man of the Match ANTHONY GREGORY to put the final nail in their coffin.

HAT TRICK HERO GRAM WATSON HITS LATE WINNER
This will go down as probably our Best Win yet in the Teesside league with 3 lads who were coming to watch the game ended up playing and done us proud. We started well and took the lead after 28 mins through the impressive GRAM WATSON. Colburn with Wayne Gredziak up front were a constant danger and making his Debut in goal for us was Craig Beckett and for the 1st half hour he was keeping them at bay on his own producing fine saves but once he was beaten they looked unstoppable and took the lead 2-1 and it looked to stay like that at half time until WATSON broke away and finished in style HT CT 2 SP 2
We battled like lions in the 2nd half but looked dead and buried when Colburn went 3-2 up but us Bankers never give up and when MARK JAHAN got his 1st goal since his return to the side to make it 3-3 we went looking for the winner and what a winner as GRAM WATSON pounced on a defenders slip to race towads goal and bury it in the bottom corner for his Hat Trick, This victory made me very proud and will stay with me for a long long time.

SUPER 2ND HALF FROM BANKERS BRINGS 1ST CLEAN SHEET
A tense 1st half today from us as we looked shot shy after a couple of confidence sapping results, but in the 2nd half we remembered what we had to do and our 1st clean sheet was a bonus. The deadlock was broken on 57 mins by ANTHONY GREGORY with a strong run holding off defenders, substitute GRAEME WATSON added a 2nd on 62 mins then GREGORY weaved his way through after 66 mins. We were playing some good flowing football at this point GRAEME WATSON jinked his way down the right and delivered a floating cross which dipped under the crossbar for his 2nd and the scoring was completed with yet another hat trick from GREGORY after 88 mins. BURNESS PLATE
BANKERS SECURE SEMI FINAL SPOT
South Bank came up against a good disciplined and hard working team in Whinney Banks and done well to secure the point needed to reach the Semi Final. We took the lead on the stroke of half time when GREGORY was brought down he got up and easily slotted away the spot kick, after the break Banks slowly got back into the game and got a well deserved equaliser. We raised our game again and when substitute Anthony Reed got the ball with his 1st touch he ran straight to the bye-line and delivered the perfect cross for CARL AGAR to nod his 16th goal of the season, we then had chances to finish the game but as always our missed chances cost us and some sloppy marking cost us a well deserved win but the result was that we achieved our aim of a semi final in April against Teesside Athletic.

BANKERS PROMOTION HOPES BATTERED BY WIND
Before the game today we looked at our team and knew that we had the personnel to win the match then looked at the factors against why we would not win the match and they won the pitch was the worst I have seen in this league it is not fit for junior football and the officials must have been close to a combined age of 200 between them so all decisions on the game were a lottery which way the wind blew the flag and the gale force winds did not help us at all, so after all my whingeing the match report goes like this:
We had many chances 1st half DANIEL PREST scored his 1st bankers goal with a 30 yard screamer, 2nd half Bankers tried walking the ball into the net our Keeper Mick Rounding put in a Man of the Match performance to keep out their attack and was beaten after 77 mins we then pushed for the winner but it never came all in all this was 1 saturday that will not stay in my memory for too long.

LAST GASP STRIKE BREAKS YOUNG BANKERS HEARTS
A very wind spoilt match today in the Burness plate a competition we had already reached the semi finals of so it was a match we had to play to complete the 4 team mini league. It was an opportunity for me to rest some players and give our crop of youngsters a run out also had a couple missing through injury.
A very even 1st half we had a couple of good chances through Gregory and Agar whilst Reed was causing them problems down the right when the ball was in play. It remained goaless at the break with Whinney Banks missing a penalty in the opening minutes. They took the lead after the hour and we were trying to get back into the game when out of nowhere a fantastic overhead kick from CARL AGAR got us back on level terms, the game seemed to be heading for a draw when Whinney Banks got a free kick about 20 yards out the shot seemed to catch our Keeper out and it floated into the top corner a great goal from Lockwood with his 2nd of the game.

MISTAKES COST BANKERS DEARLY
A very tight and tense affair today down at St Peters School both teams matched each other in the first half with South Bank coming out on top with a peach of a strike from GLENN WESSON from 20 yards and I feel that if we had added to our scoreline before the break we would have won. After the break we were still carving out chances and Bridge got a lucky break when they were awarded a penalty after one of their players tripped over his boot lace this was converted and two sloppy defensive mistakes were punished with further goals. A lot of hard work was undone by these errors and to Darlingtons credit they punished us.

BANKERS CLASS ENDS ENNIS PROMOTION HOPES
Before the game today we thought we would be in for a tough match as Ennis needed to win their remaining fixtures to ensure promotion but they came across a resurgent Bankers team and the Visitors were outclassed from the start.
The tone was set when after 2 minutes the mercurial GLENN WESSON was allowed to jink his way to the edge of the box and unleash an unstoppable drive into the bottom corner. On 20 minutes some neat passing on the edge of their penalty box resulted in PAUL VENIS making it 2-0 with a cool finish into the far corner we created many chances but we were wasting them and thats how it remained at the break.
Second half we were facing a strong wind and playing the ball on the floor was essential on 55 minutes we were awarded a penalty which ANTHONY GREGORY put away with ease, shortly after that we replaced Gregory with JAMIE COPE who was making his debut and he got off the mark within 2 minutes with a very lucky strike. The contest was put to bed in the 84th minute when GLENN WESSON buried a low drive from 12 yards out. A brilliant display from all the lads today and one that was long overdue.

BATTLING BANKERS ROAR BACK TO VICTORY
We got off to the worst possible start today when we looked dead and buried at 3-0 down after 20 minutes we made a few changes to make sure we did not leak anymore and with virtually the last kick of the 1st half our inspirational midfielder GLENN WESSON pulled a goal back from a 20 yard free kick. HT SP 1 CT 3
With the wind behind us I always knew we had a chance if the goals came early we were playing great football at this point but the ball would not go in till PAUL VENIS rifled one in from 8 yards, Substitute JOHN LODGE levelled the scores when he rounded the keeper and ANTHONY GREGORY put us in front for the 1st time and JOHN LODGE with his 2nd of the game wrapped up the points Colburn did pull another back on 90 minutes but we held on for one of the performances of the season well 2nd half at least!!!!!

BURNESS PLATE SEMI FINAL
************************
We booked our place in the Final with a confident display and at times we played some attractive football, We were without our top Scorer Anthony Gregory as he was serving a 1 match ban,but the lads pulled together and ground out the right result. Our captain TERRY MCCLAUGHLIN opened the scoring with a header from a Wesson corner and the victory was sealed when ANTHONY REED got his 18th goal of the season finishing well from a nice passing move.

BANKERS LET POINTS SLIP IN TIGHT MATCH
We started today with one eye on the Burness Plate Final and rested some players and gave others a run out it started well when JOHN LODGE opened the scoring after 21 minutes and on 40 minutes we doubled our lead through PAUL VENIS, this proved our downfall as we totally switched off and allowed Whinney Banks to score twice in as many minutes, the 2nd half was nothing to write home about and the points were shared.
