Denny Maloney Memorial Trophy

As part of our pre-season programme we were invited into this prestigious Tournament. The organisers were Dennys sons Kristian and Karl and 8 local teams lined up Acklam Steelworks,The Fountain,Whinney Banks,Middlebeck,Thorntree,The Greenway and North Ormesby Cons along with ourselves.
We were drawn against Acklam Steelworks in the 1st round and ran out 4-2 winners with goals from Ricky Phillips, Matty Hammerton, Anthony Gregory and new signing Andrew Gove.
In the Semi Final we played Thorntree and ran out 2-0 winners with goals from Anthony Gregory and Paul Venis.
The final was held on Thursday 24th July against The Greenway and was in front of a healthy crowd we dominated the game for long spells and ran out comfortable 3-1 winners with Goals from Ricky Phillips and Player of the Tournament Glenn Wesson added 2 his 2nd was a strike of pure quality from 30 yards that went in off the underside of the crossbar. The trophy was presented in the Middlebeck Social afterwards Glenn Wesson was Player of the Tournament and gives us a great boost for the forthcoming season.
