A Great night for South Bank.

We took about 250 supporters as we took over the sleepy village of Great Ayton but by the Time we had left we had left them safe in the knowledge that there is no people on earth like South Bankers. The game was a scappy affair with the wind taking effect each time we got a shot on target Craig Sharpe(Woodys Keeper) was equal to it. On the hour a defensive mix up let in the lightening quick ANDY TRUSCOTT to send our travelling contingent into raptures(You could hear the cans getting cracked open) 15 mins from time his brother PETER met a cross from the left superbly and bulleted a header home. With 8 mins remaining the Woody pulled one back a sloppy goal that made for a very nervous few minutes.
All of that tension should have been avoided because we had 80% of the play and in the final moments Mark Renton went clean through with the Keeper to beat, done everything right but it bounced off the underside of the crossbar thus spoiling a premonition I had the night before that he would score. However the final whistle blew and we had done it the players were exhausted they had put everything into bringing the trophy home. After the Match the celebrations started in the Great Ayton clubhouse where they had never seen a night like it before our man of the match was Peter Truscott and our captain Tony Leech received the Trophy (see below) A truly excellent night and a night I will never forget the support was out of this world and behaved impeccably. A letter of Appreciation was sent to me by Great Ayton officials about the excellent way we conducted ourselves.
