Speed Limits Ignored

The reason this site has been created is to debate the problems we have on our roads here in Cleveland.
I would welcome comments from all members of society from drivers,Police,Ambulances the Fire Brigade and the Planning Dept of Middlesbrough Council,Redcar and Cleveland Council and Stockton Council.
In the last fortnight I have been in tailbacks after FIVE accidents on our local roads.Whats going wrong?.

We all make mistakes but on our congested roads even a slight mistake can result in an accident.

For people living on the outskirts of Middlesbrough and travel into Middlesbrough down Marton Rd in the rush hour know all about the 'Marton Crawl'.There are many reasons for this, one being the sequence of lights at Marton Bungalow, favouring the traffic from Ladgate Lane.Six,Seven and Eight seconds on Green are not uncommon with traffic tailing back to the Southern Cross and causing motorists to become frustrated and jump lights. All Traffic lights along Marton Rd should be for a maximum time on green not the minimum and the traffic would flow more quickly through this junction providing the lights further down Marton Rd also favour oncoming traffic. What do you think?now it does not appear as if we will get the new road.LET ME KNOW.

Planning Madness

I travel frequently from Teesside Park onto the slip road to the A19 South Bound.I have been concerned for a long time that the outside lane also directs traffic to the A19.If a motorist stays in the outside lane he has great difficulty in accessing the A19 without bunching up on motorists already in the inside lane because the outside lane directs you onto the A66.I would of thought the markings on the road should state clearly A66 where three lanes mirge into two.Motorists tend to race from the lights to gain a space in the inside lane.Does this seem familiar?

The Longnewton Interchange

I travel frequently from Middleton St George or Teesside Airport and join the A66 at this junction. There has been many an accident at this junction and it is very easy to see why.
Drivers who are travelling from Darlington are in the outside lane of the A66 and if they wish to turn off for the Airport and are familiar with the road, can look for traffic coming the other way,on the other carriage way without slowing down and can see the road to cross is clear.Where the danger lies is the fact they are guided to cross the junction at a forty five degree angle.
The driver waiting to cross to the central reservation, estimates the speed of approaching traffic and decides it is save to cross only to find a car diagonally in his path.On one occasion recently an accident had occured further up the A66 and the inevitable tailback of traffic interfered with drivers trying to join from the Longnewton turnoff.Drivers from Darlington thought it best, if they were travelling to Yarm or Stockton, to use the Longnewton turnoff to escape the jams, which meant we could not get across. When we were allowed to cross I found a driver right alongside me waiting to cross.Just at that a Police car with Blue's and Two's tried to come in between us instead of going to the nearest roundabout which in my opinion was stupid because we could not go anywhere.I have always maintained that three won't go into two which is what he was trying to do.When we eventually passed the accident scene we found five Police cars parked all over the place and the question must be asked 'WHY'
