Our Next Concert at SPC
Sunday 19th November 2006 at 7.45 pm in Stockton Parish Church
Trio Melzi Sarah Beth Briggs (piano), Richard Howarth (violin) and Jonathan price (cello)
Adult single tickets cost £10. Tickets for juniors up to 19, students, and benefit claimants cost £4.
Mozart Trio in E major K 542
Shostakovich Trio no 2 in E minor
Mendelssohn Trio no 1 op.49 in D minor
Sarah, together with he woodwind duo, gave us a splendid concert the season before last so we have invited her, this time with two string playing colleagues, both principals at the Manchester Camerta. We look forward to more Mozart and Shostakovich
Sarah Beth Briggs first collaborated with the Manchester Camerata in 1991, and established a close rapport with them, performing on a regular basis in their main series in Manchester and the North West. She was also the featured soloist in the Camerata's 20th birthday concert in London, performing two Mozart piano concertos in a gala evening at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, and winning much praise from the national press. Her work with the Camerata inspired her to set up a series of chamber music concerts with their section principals, and the Argyll Group sponsored three critically acclaimed performances at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. This led to Sarah and the Camerata chamber groups giving many acclaimed concerts together throughout the country.
Trio Melzi’s repertoire is wide-ranging, including works by Beethoven, Haydn, Schubert, Saint-Saens, Schumann and Debussy. In addition, throughout 2006, widely acclaimed interpretations of Trios by Mozart (in E major, K542) and Shostakovich (No. 2 in E minor) feature in a diverse programme specially designed to celebrate the 250th and 100th anniversaries of the two composers’ births |
