Rocky Racoon
(An attempted lip-synch by the moviemaker. Did he succeed?)
by Jim Taylor. This is a tribute to a much-loved song. I just used anything and anybody that happened to be around at the time of shooting. I already new the song by heart so it only took me about a day to shoot. As with 'Sound Driven' I shot it several times and synch'd them to the original soundtrack, in the edit. |
Sound Driven
(A mad dash to...where??...what for??)
by Jim Taylor. A man gets an urgent 'phone call and has to make a mad dash in his car amidst a cacophany of the sounds of war.
I made this one as a exercise in sound effects and unusual angles of shots. It was all shot with one camera. The whole video was shot about 10 times from different angles within the car and eventually synchronised in the edit. Steel brackets and frames were constructed and bolted onto the headrest pillars. For one shot the camera was clamped to a large brick in the boot.

Flight of the Dolly Bee
(How to make a tracking dolly in one minute.)
by Jim Taylor. A 'one minute' competition came up so I decided to video the process of making a tracking dolly - it got 2nd place. The soundtrack is a cut-down version of Rimsky Korsakov's 'Flight of the Bumble-bee'. |
Cuddly but could be dangerous
All that is cuddly is not necessarily harmless.

Bainbridge
Beautiful cars in a beautiful village.
Shot on a Panasonic DVC-PRO Camera and the edit was down onto MiniDV tape from Premiere 6.5.
By Iain Jones and Interviews by Eric Parr. Edited by Iain Jones.
The Film was made in 2004. The club was making a Film about The Beamish Vintage Car Rally and I was at Bainbridge to capture their lunch stop-over. So I filmed a little more than I was requested. I made some inquires about the Village and Bob`s your uncle.

Happy Days
(Someone doesn't want to go to school.)
Made by Eric Parr with the help of members. We shot this video in just a few hours using one of the members houses. The camera was a SVHS model as the video was made a few years ago. Now we have digital, but if you get plenty of closeups with a SVHS camera it still shows up well.
Getting together to make a video is great fun. As well as a learning experience and this is what being in a Club is all about.

Bygone Years
(A brief history of South Shields.)
Producer and director Eric Parr. This clip is from the beginning of the video.
With the help of Don Robson using a digital camera and myself on SVHS we compiled this video using cine footage from a late member - Miss Wincote. This video is a living record of people and their memories of long ago. Copies of the whole video are available - just leave your name, address and telephone number on the website contact panel and we will do the rest. |
Long in the Tooth
(Certain bedtime rituals.)
by Eric Parr. I made this video for a Club competition, again some time ago on SVHS, It featured myself, wife and my son's dog. My wife only agreed to be in it when I told her we were not showing faces. The teeth were borrowed and the dog's teeth I made from polyfilla. It took nearly all day to get the dog to act and when it yawned it was actually tired!
