Lead Mining at the Rogerley Mine, Stanhope

For some years, a party of Amercian geologists have been working the old Rogerley mine near Stanhope each summer, extracting beautiful rock crystal specimems. Their web site is well worth a look not only for its rock crystal photographs but also for their amusing web diary recording their stay in Weardale. The Killhope Mining Museum and the Weardale Museum at Ireshopeburn, each have excellent sections on local minerals and crystals. So welcome Jesse and friends again to Weardale.
