Rev'd Heather Murray Ordained as Priest
At St James, Burnopfield, we have been fortunate to have Heather Murray serving us as Deacon for the last year since her ordination at Durham Cathedral in July 2007.
She revisited Durham Cathedral on Saturday afternoon 28th June 2008 for the service of Ordination of Priests and now returns to St James as Reverend Heather Murray. The ceremony was presided over by the Bishops of Durham and Jarrow, the latter in the capacity as guide and mentor for the ordinands.
The following evening she led her first service as Priest to a congregation that packed St James, any more arrivals would have been lucky to find a spare seat in the pews! Many of the congregation attended a celebration buffet, which was held afterwards at the church hall.
