Welcome to the St John's Centre
The St. John's Centre is a local charity which offers practical help to people of all ages with a wide range of disabilities We were officially opened by H.R.H. The Duke of Edinburgh in 1988, and since then we have continuously expanded.
In a typical week we now provide day-care for 90 elderly people, our group of 23 adults with physical disabilities has a waiting list, and the under 4's special needs playgroup is running at capacity. Of particular help to service families, we act as an outreach post from the Friarage, enabling children with special needs to receive physiotherapy and speech therapy.
Our new group for children with learning difficulties. Catterick P.A.L.S., is thriving. The Gateway Club for adults with learning difficulties has more than doubled its numbers in recent months. We also act as a meeting place for groups supporting adults with mental health problems, parents of children with a disability, and families with adult dependants. |
