Church groups and activities
Stanhope is just big enough to have some of the range of church activities found in larger communities.
Among these are:
* An active Mothers Union
* An active Tuesday (working) group, which raises a great deal of money for charities
* A regular Junior Church, which meets on Sunday mornings in the Church at 10.30 a.m.
* A pre-school Teddy-Bears group, which meets in the Church hall on Wednesday mornings between 10.30 and 12 noon p.m.
* Brownies and Rainbows, who meet in the Church hall on Tuesday evenings.
* A robed choirof varied ages who take a leading part in the worship.
* The Zephyr youth group, made up of young people from Stanhope, Frosterley and Eastgate.
* The Church hall is a large building, which was the previous Rectory. It is now also used by a variety of other groups in Stanhope (especially for coffee mornings every Saturday morning) as well as for residential flats.
* Amongst other gifted people, the Church community is also blessed by having a talented banner maker.
