The joy of partner practice

New Beginners Course Starts Sept 2008 Open yourself to the deep transforming power within see events page for details

GETTING STARTED
The classes are structured so that new starters may join at any time just come along.

Occasionally we have specific beginner's induction courses - usually in Sept. But you really don't have to wait come along and see what it's all about! Your journey begins when you do.

We cater for complete beginners as well as more advanced practitioners.
We also wholeheartedly welcome people from other arts. No need to throw away your previous hard earned experience.

As a new starter you'll come to the first hour and a half of the class and learn the basic loosening exercises and be introduced to the opening moves of the Cheng Man-Ch'ing 37 movement Form. There's no pressure, so go at the pace you can handle and build up slowly.

Please note we don't put people on contracts or tie them in in any way. You are free to leave at any time.

In addition to the Taiji classes you may also do the KickBox+plus class on Friday charged separately.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. Let the journey begin!

Always worth checking for last minute changes before coming to a class for the first time.

STRUCTURE

The classes are 3 hrs long.
First 1.5hrs are geared for newer people. Longer trained should attend also to practice the basics. In the 2nd half we concentrate on the longer trained.
Self practice will of course help to consolidate what you've done in the classes - only those prepared to make some effort are welcome in our school.

Longer term students (3yrs+) learn the Yang Cheng Fu 108 Long Form and Quick Fist and further set pattern pushing hands applications.

ATTENDANCE - ROUGH GUIDE
1st yr - First half of the classes 1.5hrs
2nd yr - Full class 3hrs
3rd yr - Additional Friday* class

* 3rd Fri each month.

Only with effort does the art unfold. Attending classes twice a week combined with a little self practise is ideal. The occasional day workshops help to deepen your understanding .

WHAT IF I'VE TRAINED BEFORE?
People trained in other arts generally already have good base of co-ordination, balance and body awareness.
Unlike most other arts Taiji emphasises gaining awareness of the 'hidden' muscles phases. There will undoubtedly be some unlearning of habitual responses to go through.

CAN I DO THE KICKBOX+plus CLASS?

Yes of course! But The KB+ is of a much more vigorous nature. An intellegent blend of Boxing and Kickboxing drills incororating skipping, padwork, bagwork, partner loop drills, that build skills and confidence.
Have a chat with Joe or one of the students who attend.

Before you begin training in this high work-rate class you are required to complete a Training form and Health questionnaire.
The classes are designed to welcome new people at any time. KickBox+plus is charged at £4 per class (*FTS £3).
