2007 Annual Concerts

Finally,despite another year of turbulence and setbacks, we've reached the end of 2007 in good working order. All of our doubts and worries about the Annual Concerts were swept away with five evenings of pretty good entertainment at Middlesbrough Theatre.
Musical Director, Alec Jackson, produced a varied programme which was substantially different from the usual Apollo presentations but our feedback suggests that the majority of the audiences had a great time.
Chairman, David Carter, took up the role of Master of Ceremonies for the evening and was in his usual good form, providing most of the concert's humour while enjoying some good banter with the MD.
Accompanist, Martin Dack was outstanding throughout the week claiming many prolonged ovations with every audience eager to show their appreciation of his keyboard skills.
As usual our soprano Diane was in excellent voice all week and her choice of numbers met with approval from audiences all week.
As always choir soloists, Colin Beeforth and David Carter sang well and baritone, Ken Clayton performed a cameo solo in Battle Hymn of the Republic.
After rehearsing for four hours a week for the last three months the choir saw all their hard work come to fruition and they can be proud of their week's performance. All in all, from what we feared may be a problem week turned out to be an unbridled success and all participants ought to be congratulated.
The last word,however, must go to all of you who support us through good times and difficult times. We are ever grateful to you and you can rest assured that we will always strive to provide you with good music and good entertainment.
