Regions and Counties
Although for governmental planning purposes the five boroughs of the lower Tees are in the North East Region, the boundary between the traditional counties of North Yorkshire and County Durham is still the River Tees. Whilst the five boroughs recognise a common purpose and a shared identity, the traditional counties are still important to many of their citizens. Personally I am equally proud to be both Teessider and Yorkshireman and respect the feelings of my fellow Teessiders north of the Tees to be equally as proud of County Durham. |
