A Hundred Years of trams and buses on Tees-Side
 | The 500 Group have available a great deal of data relating to the history of bus and tram travel around Teesside
We have produced a CD-Rom., it is entitled:
'A hundred years of trams and buses on Tees-side'
It contains data of all the vehicles that have been operated by the various Corporation Transport undertakings, as well as their predecessors who provided tram services from 1884
It also contains fleet data of Cleveland Transit Ltd. and Stagecoach Transit vehicles that have been used since the Municipal undertakings have been privatised.
The data-base is searchable, to enable the user to find, and list vehicles by:
+ Registration number
+ Fleet number
+ Fleet operator
+ Chassis manufacturer
+ Body manufacturer
+ Body configuration
+ Date introduced
There are one thousand nine hundred photographs on the CD-Rom, representing 86% of the vehicles listed and these can be opened from the data-base by clicking on the link on the on-screen list
The minimum requirement for the CD-Rom to run is a computer with:
+ Microsoft Windows 98
+ Microsoft Access (in Office 98 or 2000)
+ A suitable photo display program
+ 10 mb. spare memory
For those without a computer the images of buses and trams contained in the Cd-Rom can be viewed with a DVD player and TV set.
The DVD player must be capable of playing 'jpeg' files
(The data contained in the disc can not be viewed on a DVD player)

Stockton Corporation Book is now published

The 500 Group has published a new book on
Stockton Corporation Transport
The publication, is a well written and informative book and is a social History of Municipal bus operations in Stockton on Tees from 1921 to 1968.
The undertaking was eventually to become part of Teesside Municipal Transport, Cleveland Transit and ultimately Stagecoach Transit
The book has been carefully researched by well known local bus historian Peter Cardno and 500 Group Chairman, David Hunter.
This lavishly illustrated book has many previously unpublished pictures of Stockton and its buses and carries a detailed history, fleet lists, route history and a chapter on tickets as well as one on the memories of the former undertakings engineer, Roy Cotterill

We have now sold enough copies of the book to break even, if you haven't got yours yet they are available from good local book shops including W.H. Smith, Yarm Book Shop, Guisborough Book Shop. The Book Inn Billingham and Serin Computers Eaglescliffe. The book is also stocked at the Transporter Visitiors Centre and Preston Hall Museum
