The Thornaby Jubilee Group (a partnership between Asda, The Five Lamps Organisation, local residents groups, organisations and agencies) held a Fun Day in the car park behind Asda.

Thornaby Town Council put a free Rock Festival on at the Harold Wilson Recreation Ground.
Bands included: Elaine Palmer, Mojos, Big Sigh and The Yawns and The Fuzz.

Entertainment was provided over 2 nights by David Scott in the Hangar on Master Road.
The first night was a 1950's night with The Squadronaires and the second night saw The Commitments, the Sweet and T. Rextasy perform.
