Welcome to Tanfield Lea Community Centre

Tanfield Lea lies roughly 2 miles north-west of Stanley . The former mining village has been expanded by the addition of several new housing estates. The Community Association area of benefit also includes the Good Street estate, about 1/2 mile nearer Stanley.

Our Aims

The Community Association aims to provide the residents of the area with facilities for their recreational and social welfare, and to promote their well-being.

About The Centre

The Community Centre, formerly the Miners' Welfare Hall, lies on the main road from Stanley, next to the Methodist Chapel. It is open from morning to night on weekdays, and at weekends by arrangement.

Come and look around

The Community Centre facilities include a hall which seats 100,with a stage. The canteen was refitted recently. One room is used as a studio by two artists, who hold classes twice-weekly. There is one other small room and, upstairs, a large room,which can be divided by a sliding partition. The ladies' and gents' toilets are on the ground floor. There are showering facilities in the gents'.
