Life Cycle of a Butterfly
 | The butterflies will hover, alighting on a wide variety of flowers, but they only lay their eggs on one type of food plant. Once the butterflies have mated, the eggs are laid on the food plant. Often difficult to spot, being tiny specks on the green foliage. At the Tow Law Buttterfly House, you can see all stages of the butterfly life cycle, from egg laying, the hungry caterpiller, the pupae (as the grub changes inside the cocoon into a butterfly) and then the final magical moment as the pupae case breaks open and the butterfly emerges.
