First Responder Volunteer Scheme

In January 2001, we launched a scheme to provide trained volunteers to help people in our community who have suffered heart attacks. The First Responder scheme in Trimdon Village is the first of its kind in the North East. We are looking for more volunteers to join our 'First Responder Team' here in Trimdon Village. The aim of the scheme is to assist a casualty who may have a life threatening illness, buying them more time as we wait for the paramedics to respond. This in turn will increase the chances of survival for a cardiac arrest victim with the aid of a difibrillator. We offer you free training and regular assessment with the Ambulance Service, to enable you to manage patients suffering from Cardiac Arrest or Chest Pain.
