Refurbished workshop rises from the ashes.
 | Early in 2007 the Preston Park Miniature Railway met with a calamity. Due to unforseen circumstances the well-stocked workshop was completely destroyed. Everything gone, the roof too. Members were devastated with this early morning fire. Thankfully no one was injured as members were stiil at home in bed. Had this occured during workshop activity time we would have been well able to put the fire out and call the Fire Brigade.
Fortunately a good proportion of the loss is covered by insurance. It is amazing to see donations of equipment assemble in the bright newness of the workshop. Enthusiastic members are inspired with the rebuild results and look forward to an industrious and enjoyable 2008.
There is much to do keeping locomotives, passenger carriages and lines in good order for the regular Sunday afternoon passenger trains. Many members also build their own locomotives in home workshops. Fortunately the clubs own, underconstruction, 0-6-0 steam locomotive was not in the destroyed part of the workshop. The motion has been bench tested and the engine is in the final stages of completion.
Working members invite both young and older people with a flair to roll up their sleeves and dedicate time and action to the aims of TSGR Preston Park. Can you work in a team? Come and join us if you would like to participate in the varied challenging requirements associated with little trains.Call in and find out more about membership by visiting us particularly on a Friday or Sunday.
REGULAR PASSENGER TRAINS ARE NOW RUNNING SUNDAYS FROM 1 TO 4PM EASTER UNTIL THE END OF OCTOBER. WEATHER PERMITTING AND ALL REQUIREMENTS ARE MET FOR RUNNING TRAINS ON THE DAY. |
