2007 saw another fantastic turnout at Croft with about 80 riders taking part. Thank you to everyone who participated, and also a special thank you to our sponsors Northern Horseboxes - their second year sponsoring the ride.

We raised over £4200 in sponsorship for Unicorn Centre funds, so thank you to everyone who contributed in any way.

Many riders raised a fantastic amount of sponsorship, and were thanked at our Christmas evening in December. The star sponsors were presented with rosettes and trophies:

CHARITY HOLDS SPONSORED HORSE RIDE

The Riding for the Disabled Association's Unicorn Centre is organising its third sponsored ride at Croft near Darlington on Sunday 16 September 2007.

This popular and enjoyable ride on the Croft Estate and neighbouring farms has now become a regular event in the north-east equestrian diary, following its re-introduction in 2005.

Northern Horseboxes are supporting the event for the second year running by providing rosettes and trophies, and will also be helping the charity raise extra funds by running a raffle on the day.

Unicorn Centre Acting Manager Heidi Hutchinson said, "Last year and we raised over £3800 for our funds. It was enjoyed by riders of all abilities and ages and we're hoping that everyone gets lots of sponsors again, as well has having a great time. We're especially grateful to sponsors Northern Horseboxes, and to the Chaytor-Norris family for their permission to use their land."

The ride will be a minimum of ten miles, but a special two mile circuit has been created for disabled riders and younger children. Perpetual trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places for the highest sponsorship raised for the 10 mile ride, with trophies to keep for the highest sponsorship for the 2 mile ride. Each rider who completes the ride will also receive a rosette. Stewards will marshall the course and will be in radio contact with the organisers. Ample parking will be available along with hot food and drink facilities.
