We welcome you to the website of

Based in the seaside town of Whitby, North Yorkshire, Whitby Amateur Dramatic Society is the longest surviving drama group in the area. It was founded in 1910 "for the encouragement of dramatic art" and is still going strong today.

Who are we and what do we do?

As we approach our centenary year, the society's membership today boasts a strong nucleus of performers along with many equally dedicated members who work behind the scenes in a whole host of capacities.

We normally present four productions each year and our wide and varied programme draws on the rich repertoire of drama available to the amateur stage. It covers all kinds of play from comedy and farce, to drama, melodrama and thrillers; even, on occasion, musical revue.

We are fortunate in having superb theatre facilities available to us - the majority of our performances being given at Whitby Pavilion Theatre, where our audiences include many loyal, local supporters along with holidaymakers and visitors to the town.

If you are interested in finding out more about the society, our productions and activities, or if you are interested in getting involved please follow the links on the left.
