The first pre-season game is a satisfactory work out against local rivals the ‘Steps’.
After ten minutes Scott Mounsey opens the scoring with a powerful header from a Craig Smith corner, five minutes later Gary Price capitilisers on a defensive error to make it two nil. Shortly after the half time break a Craig Smith corner finds its own way into the back off the net. The Steps pull one back with what is probably the goal of the game, however two fine goals, one from Vinny Moran and one for Craig Smith restore our commanding lead. In the final minutes a hand ball by Graham Atikinson, who at the time was not playing in his familiar position of goalkeeper, opened the way for the Steps to score a second from the penalty spot.
