Competition Rules

GENERAL COMPETITION RULES – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
(Applies to ALL competitions)
1. To enter any Competition you are required to have paid or part paid your Subscription to Washington Camera Club PRIOR to your entry submission.
2. Minimum print size to be 7” x 5”.
3. Maximum print size (including mount) to be 20” x 16”.
4. Trade processed or Home processed prints will be accepted.
5. All Monochrome prints & Colour prints to be MOUNTED & TITLED.
(Untitled entries will NOT be accepted).
6. Your Club Membership number MUST be put on ALL print entries (NO NAMES).
7. Prints are entered on the understanding that the Competition Secretary can retain them for use in Exhibitions, Inter-Club Competitions & the N.C.P.F. etc. (Extenuating circumstances are left to the discretion of the Competition Secretary).
8. There will be NO MARKS given in ANY Club Competition. For the purpose of deciding an overall winner, the Competition Secretary will allocate:
10 - Points for each First Place.
7 - Points for each Second Place.
5 - Points for each Third Place.
3 - Points for each Highly Commended.
PLUS - 1 - Point for each entry.
9 ANY PRINT ENTERED INTO A SPECIFIC COMPETITION WILL NOT BE ELIBIBLE FOR THAT COMPETITION EVER AGAIN.
( THIS ALSO APPLIES TO ANY PHOTOGRAPH, SO SIMILAR, THAT IT COULD
BE MISCONSTRUED AS BEING THE SAME AS A PREVIOUS ENTRY)
There will be TWO exceptions to Rule 9:
The MEMBERS Competition & the KNOCKOUT Competitions.
10 All SLIDE competitions are temporarily SUSPENDED.
(Except for the Wear Area Battle)

MEMBERS COMPETITIONS
These Competitions will be OPEN CLASSED and ALL Members are eligible to enter.
The Competition is for PRINTS ONLY (Monochrome or Colour)
Judging will be done by Members votes.
The MAXIMUM entry COULD be: SIX in total, consisting of: THREE Monochrome Prints and/or THREE Colour Prints.

KNOCKOUT COMPETITIONS
This Competition will be OPEN CLASSED and ALL Members are eligible to enter.
The Competition is for PRINTS ONLY (Monochrome or Colour)
These Competitions will be Judged by the Members on a ‘Round Robin’ basis.
The MAXIMUM entry COULD be: EIGHT in total, consisting of: FOUR Monochrome Prints and/or FOUR Colour Prints.

THE KEN HENDERSON PORTRAIT COMPETITION
This Competition will be OPEN CLASSED and ALL Members are eligible to enter.
The Competition is for PRINTS ONLY (Monochrome or Colour)
The MAXIMUM entry COULD be: EIGHT in total, consisting of: FOUR Monochrome Prints and/or FOUR Colour Prints.

THE DAVE BOTTOMS LANDSCAPE COMPETITION
These Competitions will be OPEN CLASSED and ALL Members are eligible to enter
The Competition is for PRINTS ONLY (Monochrome or Colour)
The MAXIMUM entry COULD be: EIGHT in total, consisting of: FOUR Monochrome Prints and/or FOUR Colour Prints.

THE FRED ALLAN PRINT COMPETITIONS
These Competitions will be OPEN CLASSED and ALL Members are eligible to enter.
The Competition is for PRINTS ONLY.
There are TWO Sections: OPEN COLOUR PRINTS & OPEN MONOCHROME PRINTS
The MAXIMUM entry COULD be: EIGHT in total, consisting of: FOUR Monochrome Prints and/or FOUR Colour Prints.

THE SET SUBJECT COMPETITIONS
These Competitions will be OPEN CLASSED and ALL Members are eligible to enter.
The Competition is for PRINTS ONLY (Monochrome or Colour)
Each individual Member will choose their own Subject, BUT, the THREE pictures in each Set MUST relate to each other on your chosen theme.
Each set of Three MUST have a ‘Theme Title’ & also each Picture have an ‘Individual title’.
The winner in each section will be awarded to the BEST SET of THREE and NOT any individual picture.
The required entry COULD be SIX in total, consisting of:
1 – Set of THREE Monochrome Prints.
1 – Set of THREE Colour Prints.

THE DIGITAL PRINT COMPETITION
This Competition will be OPEN CLASSED and ALL Members are eligible to enter.
The Competition is for PRINTS ONLY (Monochrome or Colour)
The Initial image can be exposed on a conventional or a digital camera.
1. You also have the option to produce the initial image by direct scanner manipulation.
2. The finished print MUST have been generated & printed using a computer.
3. The finished image can be Monochrome or Colour.
4. All the Image(s) MUST be your own work. (NO scanning or copying of others peoples work will be allowed).
5. The MAXIMUM entry COULD be: SIX in total, consisting of:
THREE Monochrome Prints and/or THREE Colour Prints.

DIGITALLY PROJECTED IMAGES COMPETITION.
This is a one-off competition for Digitally Projected Images.
1. Electronic Images must be in ‘jpeg’ format with a file size NOT exceeding 450K.
2. Image size must not exceed either 1024 pixels wide or 768 pixels high.
3. The name of the image MUST be the title you wish it to be Judged by and that title must be the only identifiable information attached to that image.
4. Entries must be on a CDR disc and NOT on a CDRW disc.
5. Your Name & Membership number MUST be written with a CD pen on the DISC.
6. The required entry is up to THREE images.

THE QUALIFYING COMPETITIONS
This is a series of FOUR Competitions to find the most consistent photographer in the Club, both in the Beginners & Advanced Sections.
The Competition is for PRINTS ONLY (Monochrome or Colour)
There are TWO separate Sections in each of the FOUR legs:
BEGINNERS MONOCHROME
BEGINNERS CLOUR PRINTS

The BEGINNERS & ADVANCED sections will take place on separate nights.

ADVANCED MONOCHROME
ADVANCED COLOUR PRINTS
The MAXIMUM entry per round COULD be: SIX in total, consisting of: THREE Monochrome Prints and/or THREE Colour Prints.
The overall winner will be the Members with the highest aggregate number of points for their best NINE entries over the season.
The Winner & Runner-up in the Beginners Sections of Monochrome prints & Colour prints will be Promoted to the Advanced Section from the start of the following season.

THE BERT JONES TROPHY
As stated in the General Competition Rules, you will be awarded ONE point for each picture entered.
The Winner of the Trophy will be the Member with the highest number of ENTRIES for the season.

PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR
The Competition Secretary will allocate points for any 1st, 2nd, 3rd or Highly Commended places in each Competition.
The Winner will be the Member with the highest numbers of points allocated throughout the Season.
