2013 NEW COMPETITON RULES
From 1st January 2013 each photographer will only be allowed
to enter ANY SINGLE IMAGE (either Print or Digital) into THREE Competitions.
(See Rule 10 of the General Competition Rules)
You can choose any THREE of the following Competitions for your entries:

1. THE MEMBERS COMPETITION.
2. THE KNOCKOUT COMPETITION.
3. THE PRINT QUALIFYING COMPETITIONS.
4. THE DIGITAL IMAGE QUALIFYING COMPETITIONS.
5. THE KEN HENDERSON PORTRAIT COMPETITION.
6. THE DAVE BOTTOMS LANDSCAPE COMPETITION.
7. THE FRED ALLAN PRINT COMPETITION.
8. THE SET SUBJECT COMPETITION.

GENERAL COMPETITION RULES – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY


1. To enter any Competition you are required to have paid or part or all of your Subscription to Washington Camera Club PRIOR to your entry submission.
All Subscription MUST be paid IN FULL by JUNE 28th.
2. Minimum print size to be 7” x 5”.
3. Maximum print size (including mount) to be 20” x 16”.
4. Trade processed or Home processed prints will be accepted.
5. All Monochrome prints & Colour prints to be MOUNTED & TITLED.
(Untitled entries will NOT be accepted).

6. Your Club Membership number MUST be put on ALL print entries (NO NAMES).
7. Prints are entered on the understanding that the Competition Secretary can
retain them for use in Exhibitions, Inter - Club Competitions & the N.C.P.F. etc.
(Extenuating circumstances are at the discretion of the Competition Secretary).
8. For the Digitally Projected Image Competitions, Please change the FILE
NUMBER of your image to the TITLE and add your MEMBERSHIP NUMBER.
(eg: Memb No 12 - IMAGE TITLE )
9. There will be NO MARKS given by the Judges in ANY Club Competition. For the purpose of deciding an overall winner, the Competition Secretary will allocate:
10 - Points for each First Place.
7 - Points for each Second Place.
5 - Points for each Third Place.
3 - Points for each Highly Commended.
PLUS - 1 - Point for each entry.
10. ANY IMAGE (Either Print or Digital Image) ENTERED INTO A SPECIFIC COMPETITION WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR THAT COMPETITION EVER AGAIN.
(THIS ALSO APPLIES TO ANY PHOTOGRAPH, SO SIMILAR, THAT IT COULD BE MISCONSTRUED AS BEING THE SAME AS A PREVIOUS ENTRY)

11. Slides are no longer accepted for any Competition.

GENERAL COMPETITIONS
MEMBERS COMPETITION
This competition will be OPEN CLASSED and ALL Members are eligible to enter.
The competition is for PRINTS ONLY.
Judging will be done by Members paper votes.
The MAXIMUM entry will be FOUR Monochrome and/or FOUR Colour Prints.

KNOCKOUT COMPETITION
This competition will be OPEN CLASSED and ALL Members are eligible to enter.
The competition is for PRINTS ONLY.
Judging will be done by the Members on a ‘Round Robin’ basis.
The MAXIMUM entry will be FOUR Monochrome and/or FOUR Colour Prints.

This competition will be OPEN CLASSED and ALL Members are eligible to enter.
The competition is for PRINTS ONLY.
The MAXIMUM entry will be TWO Monochrome and/or TWO Colour Prints.

THE DAVE BOTTOMS LANDSCAPE COMPETITION
This competition will be OPEN CLASSED and ALL Members are eligible to enter.
The competition is for PRINTS ONLY.

The MAXIMUM entry will be TWO Monochrome and/or TWO Colour Prints.

THE FRED ALLAN PRINT COMPETITION.
This competition will be OPEN CLASSED and ALL Members are eligible to enter.
The competition is for PRINTS ONLY.
There are TWO Sections: OPEN COLOUR PRINTS & OPEN MONOCHROME PRINTS.
The MAXIMUM entry will be TWO Monochrome and/or TWO Colour Prints.

THE SET SUBJECT COMPETITIONS
These Competitions are OPEN CLASSED and ALL Members are eligible to enter.
The competition is for PRINTS ONLY.
There are TWO Sections: OPEN COLOUR PRINTS & OPEN MONOCHROME PRINTS.
Each Member will choose their own Subject, BUT the THREE images in each Set MUST relate to each other on your chosen theme.
Each Set of Three MUST have a ‘Theme Title’ and also each picture MUST have an ‘Individual Title’.
The winner in each Section will be awarded to the BEST SET of THREE and NOT any individual picture.
The Maximum entry will be 1 – Set of THREE Monochrome Prints and/or 1 – Set of THREE Colour Prints.

QUALIFYING DIGITALLY PROJECTED IMAGE COMPETITION
This is a series of THREE Competitions for Digitally Projected Images to be Judged by ONE Judge.
1. Digital Image files must be in the ‘JPEG’ format.
2.‘IMAGE’ size MUST NOT exceed 1400 pixels WIDE or 1050 pixels HIGH.
3.‘FILE’ size MUST NOT exceed 800k
4. You MUST replace the IMAGE FILE NUMBER with your Image TITLE.
You MUST also include your MEMBERSHIP NUMBER within the Title. (eg: Memb. No 12 – IMAGE TITLE )
These two items should be the only identifiable information attached to the image.
5. Entries must be on a CDR disc and NOT on a CD Re-Writable disc.
6. Your Name & Membership Number MUST be written on the CD disc.
7. The images can be either Monochrome or Colour but the MAXIMUM entry in each leg will be THREE
(ie: NINE for the Season)
8. The Overall winner will be the Member with the highest total number of points for the Season.

THE QUALIFYING COMPETITIONS
This is a series of THREE Competitions to find the most consistent photographer in the Club, both in the Beginners & Advanced Sections.
The Competition is for PRINTS ONLY (Monochrome or Colour)
There are TWO separate Sections in each of the THREE legs:
SECTION 1
BEGINNERS MONOCHROME
BEGINNERS COLOUR PRINTS
SECTION 2
ADVANCED MONOCHROME
ADVANCED COLOUR PRINTS
The BEGINNERS & ADVANCED sections will take place on separate nights.
The MAXIMUM entry per round COULD be: SIX in total, consisting of: THREE Monochrome Prints and/or THREE Colour Prints.
The overall winner will be the Member with the highest aggregate number of points for the season.
At the end of the year the Winner & Runner-up in the Beginners Sections of Monochrome Prints & Colour Prints will be Promoted to the Advanced Section from the start of the following season.

THE BERT JONES TROPHY
As stated in the General Competition Rules, you will be awarded ONE point for each picture entered.
The Winner of the Trophy will be the Member with the highest number of ENTRIES for the season.

PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR
The Competition Secretary will allocate points for any 1st, 2nd, 3rd or Highly Commended places in each Competition.
The Winner will be the Member with the highest numbers of points allocated throughout the Season.
