Volunteers for Auckland Hospital Radio
Auckland Hospital Radio, a registered charity, has been serving the needs of hospital patients, their relatives and hospital staff for over twenty five years. Broadcasting first to patients and staff at Tindale Crescent Hospital, from 1978 it began broadcasting from the radio studios at Escomb Road to both Bishop Auckland General and Tindale Crescent hospitals, Bishop Auckland. On 1 May 2002, the Auckland Hospital Radio opened its new studio
As AHR is run by volunteers, it is not always manned 24 hours a day but AHR do broadcast round the clock thanks to computers and modern technology. Broadcasting to the patients in Bishop Auckland as well as the Weardale Community Hospital, Stanhope.
The AHR team needs new folk to help them run this popular service, valued by alike by patients, their relatives and hospital staff. AHR have about 20 members at present and as some members leave for personal reasons, that's where a new member can take their place. So volunteers are needed throughout the year.
So even though Hospital Radio Equipment is hi tech, (requests can now even be emailed), humankind is still required. AHR do need recruits throughout the year and would be delighted to hear from anyone with some time to join them. Have a look at its web site for more information.
