Wolsingham Parish Council are to take advantage of a grant from the Countryside Agency's Vital Villages initiative to develop a Plan for the Future of the Parish.
A steering committee, which currently consists of some Parish Councillors and a rep from WRECASS (Recreation Ground Association), is being set up. Its first meeting is to be on 24th September in the Town Hall, commencing 7pm. We would like to have representatives from other local organisations and interested individuals who are willing to get involved and help, to join. All interested parties and volunteers will be extremely welcome at the meeting.
The "Plan" process will involve consulting with all local individuals and organisations to establish the key issues facing the parish, and then develop an action plan and formulate policies to address these issues.
With the recently published "Renewing Weardale" proposed strategy, and the proposed changes to the Local Planning Framework, this is a key time for Wolsingham and Thornley to have its future needs and aspirations properly identified and acted upon. The Parish Plan will be one of the most effective ways of achieving this, and we look forward to all assistance and constructive feedback.
This web-site will be updated as work on the plan proceeds, and we welcome feedback at anytime through the message boards available here (just click on the links to the left).
