Minutes of meeting 15th June 2004

Minutes of Meeting
Wolsingham Plan. Town Hall. 7.00pm
15.06.04

Present: Sheila Hunt, K.Rogers(Chairman), Elaine Ridley, Martin Bell, Dorothy Gasgoine, Karen Rogers, David Pattison.

Apologies: Margaret Shepheard, Bob Hopkinson, Gordon Dobson, Eric Bloomfield.

Questionnaires:

It was reported that 307 questionnaires had been returned. County Hall are of the view that this number is a good result as a return of 10% is not often exceeded. County Hall is at the present time assimilating and analysing the answers to the various questions raised, there being 166 key strokes to every questionnaire. The complete analysis is imminent and should be available within the next ten days or so. The young person’s questionnaire is awaited and is still to be analysed.
The Chairman then questioned how the results were to be communicated to the town and interested parties. It was agreed that this would be best achieved by:

a) Publishing the results in the Town Crier
b) Poster(s) in Town Hall
c) Publish on web site
d) Being made available to Parish Council Committee
e) Published in Northern Echo and/or Weardale Gazette
f) Posters

The Chairman then invited the meeting to consider how to proceed to progress the operation. It was agreed that there be another meeting in early course (28 June venue to be determined, time 7.00pm)

It was accepted that the key areas would have to be determined , which matters could be handled by the Town Plan Committee, which could not, and what outside expertise would have to be sought. It was further considered that it might well be necessary to reformat the committee. A time frame would have to be fixed before next March. It was noted that the results of the County Hall analysis would be put before the next meeting of the Parish Council on the 6 July next.

The Chairman suggested that it would be useful to have a site at the Agricultural Show in September and this was also agreed. David Pattison to investigate and advise. In general it was thought desirable to have the stand manned. So as to ensure that momentum is maintained Gordon Dobson is to be requested to arrange meetings in the town Hall for September, October and November.

The Meeting closed at 7.45pm
