Questionnaires:
The Meeting was concerned to review the 307 questionnaires that had been analysed by Durham County Council, since the last meeting. The meeting lasted two hours and all the figures and percentages set out in the Review, were considered, so as to determine the main areas of concern to the Community, and in respect of which there would be the need to set up working parties and, if necessary, seek expert help.
Certain areas of concern to the community stood out specifically (e.g. 87% of those expressing a view were in favour of tourism, 49% were not in favour of any increase in housing), and no doubt these aspects will be considered in due course.
There was also available for perusal the Young Person’s Questionnaire.
The Chairman then took the committee through the major heads of query and the members discussed what particular headings would be considered as key areas requiring further investigation, analysis, discussion and expert assistance.
It was agreed that those sections would comprise as follows:
1. Car parking, traffic safety, and public transport (particularly in the Parish)
2. General amenity and street condition.
3. Young persons’ facilities
Additionally, the Plan should have specific sections on :
1/ Tourism
2/ Employment
3/ Housing
The Meeting closed at 9.05pm
