Minutes of Wolsingham Parish Plan Steering Group, Wednesday 29th
Minutes of Wolsingham Parish Plan Steering Group, Wednesday 29th September 2004, in the Town Hall Wolsingham.
Present: K. Rogers, K.L. Rogers, D, Pattison, M. Lambard, J. Lambard, S. Foster, F. Shepheard, M. Shepheard, E. Ridley, D. Gascoigne, R. Hopkinson, E. Bloomfield, C. Graham (D.C.C. Rural Transport Team Leader), M. Ferguson (W.V.D.C. Planning Policy Officer, Local Plans Team).
Apologies: S. Hunt, C. Purvis.
1. K. Rogers has submitted an interim report to the Countryside Commission, who are pleased with the progress made so far.
2. Transport: Steve Lockwood is to be asked to attend meetings on behalf of Christine Graham when she leaves for her new job.
3. Transport: F. Shepheard is to liaise with Durham County Council about commissioning a traffic survey. S. Foster is to speak to the relevant department at County Hall, with a view to conducting the survey over October half term week if possible.
4. Transport: D.C.C. are to produce an Accessibility Audit, to determine how people access local services such as healthcare, shops etc. The Parish Plan group will be able to use the findings produced to strengthen the argument about how difficult it can be to travel around Wolsingham. For more information about a ‘village-link’ bus, contact Harris Harvey at D.C.C. A shuttle-bus service round the village may reduce the number of cars brought into the Market Place.
5. Transport: C. Graham detailed various ‘demand responsive transport services’ which could be explored and publicised.
6. Young People’s Issues: Transport concerns had not been a major finding of the Young People’s Questionnaire. More pressing issues are the amount of litter (referred to Amenity Group) and the lack of somewhere warm, dry and safe to meet.
7. The three sub-groups will have further meetings and report to everyone at the next meeting. There will also need to be a further sub-group to concentrate on the writing of the draft and final reports.
8. The next full meeting will be Tuesday, 19th October at 7 pm in the Pavilion.
