WOLSINGHAM PARISH PLAN

MINUTES OF A MEETING HELD 29TH OCTOBER 2003

Present: Chairman, Ken Rogers, M.Bell, D.C. Pattison, Mrs. D. Gascoine, Mrs. S. Hunt. J. Anderson,
Mr. E. Bloomfield, Mrs. A. Ward, J. Keenan, Mr. & Mrs. M. Newton, R. Hopkinson, T. Cramb,

The Chairman opened the meeting and welcomed all who attended, as there were some new faces he gave a brief description in what had been achieved so far, and background information.
The Wolsingham.net website was now live and there was an open invitation to all to contribute to the site.
Mr. Harry McClauchlan, Wear Valley D. C. planning officer was introduced and gave a talk on Parish Plans and there relationship to Supplementary Planning Guidance.
The core point was in developing the Parish Plan, the district planning officer should be informed of progress, so that when the new Local Development Framework is formulated the views contained in the Parish Plan can be incorporated in this document and become supplementary planning guidance, as far as the parish of Wolsingham is concerned. The Local Development Framework was being developed similarly to the Parish Plan in so far as it was deemed to be a “bottom up “ approach, involving all parts of the community, and gaining their views.
There was a short question and answer session on planning , after which Mr. McClauchlan left the meeting.
Two work groups were then set up to look at ,
a) Communication and Raising Awareness b) Identifying the Issues
Web site, Town Crier, Notices, School Newspaper Community involvement, meetings,
Local newspapers questionnaires,
Feedback was felt to be important developing the questionnaire
And responses could be given in the
Town Crier. Competition for younger people
i.e. good and bad photographs of Wolsingham
Whilst looking at the issues , it was felt there should be a “vision “ of where Wolsingham needs to be in the future.
A sub group comprising , R. Hopkinson, Karen Rogers, Mrs. D. Gascoigne, M. Bell and E. Bloomfield to look at communications and raising awareness, to be established.
Also a sub group comprising , Mrs. S. Hunt, K. Smith, D.Pattison , M. Newton ,Rebecca Lee and Miss Storey to look at Issues and Vision.
Finance sub group , Ken Rogers.
The next meeting to be held Wednesday 19th November at the Town Hall , 7.00pm.
