The Wolsingham Cheese Club

Back in the mists of time, when the Grey Bull was called the Grey Bull, Sunday afternoon regulars used to enjoy a complimentary fresh cheese board provided by the late lamented landlord Duncan Sewell, accompanied by much merriment. Since then the pub has changed hands several times, and been re-named (by our current, long suffering landlords, Mary and Denis who astoundingly tolerate our nonsense) the Mill Race. A few years ago just before Christmas (we didn't note exactly when), a few of the former Sunday regulars were sat at the bar gazing back in time and remembering cheese. Inspirationally, one bright spark said "why don't we relive the old days this coming Thursday (Boxing Day), and all bring in a wedge?" So we did, and every Thursday night since. We started a "tasting notes" book, which we kept for 4 years, but gave that up when it became too repetitive. We started including "Spam" in the activities, and have enjoyed everything from Spam to Buendnerfleisch, Beef Jerky to Cheval Sechee. Find out more by clicking on the pages to the left.
