Christmas Crafts Around the World

As requested by parents, an after school course looking at the Christmas traditions and crafts of other countries started on November 18th 2002.

This 5 week course is held in Hardwick Primary school on Mondays from 3:15 to 4:30pm and it's for parents and children.

These activities are popular and they will continue after Christmas as a certificate course.

Families are having a great time creating their own decorations in clay, dried fruit, paper and card all with a good sprinkling of glitter! At the same time we are learning about how Christmas is celebrated in other countries.

A Mexican Christmas tradition is making piņatas.

A piņata is a colourful, fragile container filled with sweets and glitter. Children take turns to hit the piņata until it breaks and all the sweets fall out!
