The Pathfinder Young Community Champions Fund is available to young People that live in Middlesbrough aged between 16-25. The fund is aimed at those that can drive a project forward and inspire others to become involved in neighbourhood regeneration.
The fund was set up by the Department for Skills and Education to help support people who want to be involved in their communities. The aim is to help young people develop their skills and ideas so that they can help others become more involved in community and regeneration activity.
Support can be travel expenses to visit other community groups
training, advice and support to overcome barriers to young people being involved in their community or to start off their idea. It is about:
· Building community links
· Bringing communities together
· Overcoming prejudice and suspicion
· Combating discrimination
· Promoting opportunities for all
· Listening to all voices in a community
· Addressing community tensions
· Celebrating the different culturewithin a community
· Understanding, valuing and sharing community differences
· Giving young people a voice.
The Young Community Champions Fund offers small grants (usually up to £1000) to individuals who have an idea that they think will make a difference in their communities.
