Do you think Camera Clubs have a place in today's society?
Not Sure

Welcome to Abingdon & District Camera Club

Abingdon and District Camera Club has been in existence for more than 30 years and has had a variety of meeting places.
Currently we meet on alternate Thursdays in the Methodist Church Hall, Dorchester Crescent, off Appleford Drive, in Abingdon, (behind the Boundary House Pub) where there is a handy bus-stop.
Meetings commence at 7.45pm and finish at around 10.00pm.
Our programme features a variety of items and the Club endeavours to accommodate all types of photographic medium. Compact, SLR, Large Format, Digital Camera Users are all welcome.

For the last couple of years, we have met fortnightly and have continued throughout the year, apart from a break in August. This seems to suit most people instead of the weekly season of meetings from September through to May. There are occasionally extra meetings slotted in to add to the interest of the club.
If you want to find out more about us, why not come along to a meeting. We make a small charge, which if you join, is taken into account by deduction from the annual subscription, which is pro-rata for members joining mid season.
Membership for 2010 was increased to 40 per annum for Single Membership. For Unwaged/Student it is 20.00 per annum and for families with one Photographer in the family it is 50 and for families with more than one Photographer in the family it is 65 per annum.

The Club has now launched its own website, which is under construction at present. The Communigate Website will remain active because we recognise that it plays a valuable role in the location of Clubs and Societies.

This club loves all types of Photography!

Regardless of the type of camera you have, the Club caters for all photographic media. We are not one of those organisations where people bring along their expensive gear to show off and brag about how many lenses or megapixels they might have; you will see cameras on practical evenings, or if some-one wants some advice on their particular camera.

We try to make it a members' club where we socialise as well as learn a thing or two,

You don't have to worry if you think you have little or no experience; most people who love photography soon develop their photography to a level above a "happy snapper"

Following the successful application to the Awards for All to purchase Digitial Imaging Presentation Equipment in 2005, the Club has made great use of the equipment which it purchased with the lottery funding.
Don't worry if you still use film - there is a place for you in the Camera Club. We still have members who swear there is no alternative to film and the club is happy to promote both media in its programme of events.
