Mindfulness Based Therapy

Working with difficult emotions such as anxiety, phobias, depression, anger and stress is best done by cultivating an open and safe RELATIONSHIP with these parts of your psyche. This is the heart of Mindfulness Based Therapy.

With MBT emotional "knots" tend to untangle and resolve themselves. The key is cultivating and maintaining the right way of relating to these parts of yourself.
Through learning the methods of APPLIED MINDFULNESS you will learn how to develop this quality of relationship that allows the unfolding and transformation of difficult emotions so that you are better able to handle them.

This process often involves working with EXPERIENTIAL IMAGERY, which may include traumas or childhood memories that have particular vividness. These images always have within them a directionality which leads to change and transformation, and as the images begin to change then the associated emotions also change.

In one-to one sessions, usually in your home, I will work with you to help you develop this new way of relating to your emotions and I will facilitate the transformational process. You will soon know whether this approach works for you and there is no obligation to continue a long course. It is suitable for anyone and does not require any particular belief system. This is a very suitable approach for people who want to take charge of their life and improve how they feel.

Peter is a professional research scientist with an intense interest in Buddhism, experiential psychotherapy, NLP and many other healing strategies that make your actual felt experience the centre of the work. He practiced in the US for a number of years before returning to Oxford in 1994.
